I live in Southern Indiana. Our intelligent officials have decided we have to many deer. A couple got hit in town this last year. They say are limits are to low so they want to up the limit to 24. This last season, I could take 1 buck and 11 does. That is if I could find them:banghead:. This year was weird and we(the whole hunting community) seen very few.

Our local DNR suggest working on the prices of the deer tags and maybe come up with a Sportsman's license. A combined license for Deer turkey small game and fishing. He says part of the problem is the price to hunt. Could be, This year I skipped the Bow season because of the price of deer tags.

My suggestion would be to extend the season a little bit. I generally hunt from opening day of gun season through end of muzzle loader season, and part of late bow season. This year I skipped the Bow season because of the price of deer tags. I do have 5 in the freezer(1 mine 4 given to me) so I will survive till next season:D

So What are your thoughts. Uhm and NO I am not inviting anyone to come down and help with crowd control:p

Well, its kinda of opposite of our situation here in VA.

We have 2 weeks of muzzle loading and 2 weeks of rifle, then of course your early and late archery, and also a late muzzle loading season.

The deer are extremely over crowding. Not so much in the country where I'm at, but in cities. We have a bag limit of 6 or so, but you can buy bonus doe tags for something like 3 for $5. Our hunting licenses are outrageous too. If I was to get state fishing, trout stamp, big game stamp, muzzle loading, bow, and my national forest permit, I would end up paying over $100.

I think in NC they offer a sportsman license. Extremely cheap compared to VA's prices.

Feel friggin lucky! We only get ONE deer a year!

There are a couple small units that allow taking a second doe.. But the rest of the whole Evergreen State of Washington; Three species of Deer, we only get one deer tag. And hunting for modern firearm is pre-Rut for 90% of opportunity.

Complain all you want, but others have it worse.

You pay $15 for each additional Deer tag? Gimmie a break. That's not breaking the bank. That is much less than many other states.

Sorry, not trying to rain on your parade or pick a fight, but I don't see much that you have to justifiably complain about.

You are correct our tags are cheaper.

My main complaint is the ignorance of our leaders. We cant kill the limit now, how the heck will increasing the limit help overpopulation?

Hunters need to work with state agencies to allow at least bow hunting in areas that are on the fringe of human population. (not shooting within city limits and such)

Or, maybe the biologists know that there are more Deer there that you're not finding... :neener:

That is part of reason this has came up. A deer was killed in front of KFC downtown(wanted some chicken I guess)

I am sure this is correct, otherwise they would not be overpopulated and I would have more freezers LOL.
