I have two unissued Enfields I'm thinking of selling.

Both are No4 MkIIs. Believe both are Fazakerlys.

Both are new. One is still in mummy wrap, and the other has been removed from wrap, but still has cosmoline down the barrel and obviously has never been fired. Both come with their serial numbered bayonets and all numbers match.

What is each worth? Anyone know?

thanks

Beetle and I bought a pair of consecutively serial numbered unissued No. 4 Mk. II's (no mummy wrap, but caked in cosmo), w/ accessories (two bayos, sight adjustment tool, scope mount, strippers) for $750 total. This was a few months back. I thought the price was fair.

consecutively serial numbered? Wow, I'd would have been all over that. $750 sounds like a hell of deal. Where'd you get it?

We got it from a guy selling it on www.auctionarms.com and since BamBam-31 really, really had to have a No. 4 MkII Fazakarley right away  and since I have been meaning to get some kind of No. 4 at some point, we figured "what better time than now?" and got it. The guy threw in those accessories but the bayonets weren't matching like yours. The sight adjustment tool was the best since with the turn of an allen wrench, you could dial in the front sight perfectly.

The funny thing was, even though they are consecutive serial numbered, when we took apart and cleaned them, a lot of the cartouches and other markings were very different  (we were comparing everything :D ). I can't remember it all now (there are a ton of little markings everywhere) but I do remember at one point exclaiming "Yours was finished Friday afternoon and then the guy got fired. Mine was made Monday morning by some other guy."

Hey Beetle & Bam Bam,

If you haven't already done so, check out this site. The fact that your rifles have consecutive serial numbers, and the fact that they were "new" would indicate that they were FTR'ed {Factory Thorough Refinish was a third line rebuild. This procedure would include complete disassembly, replacement of any worn out-of-spec or obsolete/superseded parts including re-barreling. It was then redesignated MkI,Mk1/2, Mk1/3 etc., assigned a new serial number, wholly refinished (blued/parkerized/painted) and a new or next-to-new set of furniture was fitted. Essentially a new rifle. This marking is normally found on the left side of the receiver (No4's) and on the receiver ring or buttsocket (No1's).} and put directly into storage.

Nah, these were unissued Fazakerly's. By consecutive serial numbers, I mean mine is #1001 and Beetle's is #1002. No FTR markings of any kind. My Maltby, however, was an FTR. Says so on the receiver. They did a good job of it, too.
