New fangled glass sighting device.

I agree with most, some rifles get scopes-some don't. When I was a little boy, I'm 80 now, my granddad gave me a Marlin 93 in 38-55, that rifle will never wear a scope. I shot my last deer with it and those skinny sights were a struggle. Never again! My other rifles wear glass, with age some things change.

I love irons on pistols and most rifles.

As I got older, I had to start using 1.0 diopter shooting glasses to shoot the pistols and switched most of the open sighted rifles to peep sights. And as I continue to get older, a lot of irons are being replaced with various types of optics. I guess it depends on your vision and luck in the genetic lottery!
It sure does, I wanted to keep my Ruger African in .458 just irons, but alas....... :)

I am with you on handguns but not on rifles. Scoped handguns and I have never been able to come to terms for some reason and I have given up on them.. Red dots, OK, scopes, NO.
(RED front POSTS are even better for me.)

I like peep sights on a rifle. I do have trouble with certain scopes, especially on high magnification (eye box?). Best to remove glasses for me to see through those.
One of my .22s had a 2 moa (4 moa with astigmatism) red dot, and the other a 2-7x32. I like and shoot them both better than the factory irons.

Welllllll:( …… Due to old eyesight nearly everything that I use for “target “ shooting wears some form of glass. I even have one of my lever action 22’s wearing a scope. ( period correct of course );) All of my hunting centerfires wear glass. ( I do everything I can to make certain of one shot one and down) , but their is something about the sleek handy profile of a nice lever action that screams low profile iron sights only . Since most of my 22lr levers are mostly for the eradication of Dr Pepper cans:D All but one wears aperture sights. Only wears buckhorn sight still , and that is because of historical significance. Even with my eyesight good groups can still be had with a quality adjustable aperture .

:) I felt that way about my '94 after having put a scope on it. I took it off, and that deer season, I missed the biggest buck I'd ever seen when my bullet was deflected by a branch I didn't notice (probably wouldn't have happened with the scope on). I sawed off that section of branch and kept it for years as a reminder.
My son and I have each missed a deer due to branch deflection. Forty years apart. Both with muzzle loaders. Mine, percussion traditional, his a scoped inline.
