I'm thinking about buying a new full size 9mm, and I have narrowed the choice down to 3. one question is, is the FN 509 without night sights worth $75 more than the FNS 9 with night sights?
Second question, if I can get a full size Sig 320 for about $15 more than the FNS 9, which would be a better buy? Both would have tritium night sights. I like the feel of the FNS 9, and the triger pull. I have shot a Sig 320 compact, and was quite impressed with it. I have not had the chance to look at the FN 509.

I'm sure FN makes a fine semi-auto pistol, but I'm hesitant to jump into the FN pool, because they just can't seem to make up their mind what gun they want to produce. I think over the past 15 years or so, they've made the FN9/FN40, FNP, FNS, FNX, FN509, and probably some other FN or two that I can't remember. There is very little compatibility between the family members, and it seems as if they'll drop a model and not support it.

The SIG P320 has had some teething issues (drop safety problems) and SIG has a spotty quality control reputation as of late, but I expect the P320 line to the flagship of the SIG line-up for years to come.

I don't put much stock into night sights, though I know they are the thing to have these days. This article from Sherman House about Tom Givens take on night sights may be of some use to you.

You seem to have made some fine choices, so far, try this, divide the difference in cost by the number of years
you will probably own the gun, If it's 10 or 20 years, the difference in price is really negligible. Buy the gun you
are going to be happiest with, if cost weren't a factor.

I am curious about the 509. I've been a fan of the fn line, but as JTQ pointed out they throw a lot of models against the wall and see what sticks. Generally none of the mags interchange with one another.

I went with a full size 320 and fell in love with it. With the trigger upgrade, it's even better. While it did have some issues early on, they seem to have worked out the kinks. With the adoption of the gun by .gov it's pretty much assured to have a very long life with plenty of 3rd party support.

I do think the 509 feels good in hand (I haven't shot it), and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. However, the 320 is probably a better buy from a longevity of support standpoint.

Good luck and enjoy whatever you choose:)
