I’m no great shooter and I prefer single action revolvers over other handguns. Nevertheless, I just bought a Gen 4 Glock 21 because I like .45 caliber. I don’t usually post photos, especially photos of targets but I was kinda impressed with this pistol on my first outing today. This was 11 rounds (in a 13 round magazine) two hand hold at just seven yards. Deliberate and unhurried but not really slow. I was pretty impressed with this pistol.

A lot of people trash Glock triggers, but in reality they are pretty close to typical out of the box 1911's as to trigger pull. You have some take up that isn't on a 1911. But after that you get a pretty crisp 5-6 lb trigger pull. Which is exactly the same as most 1911's. Of course you CAN improve a 1911 trigger or buy one of the target versions and do better.

The Glock 21 mitigates 45 acp recoil nicely.
I have a Glock 21SF and carried it AIWB quite a bit; my wife has it now, so I carry a Glock 20SF or 35.

i have been wanting the 21 since i rented it twice at the range. they had none to buy, before the panic buying, and they still cannot get any.

The 21's are great guns and great shooters, as you seem to have found out. :)

I had one, and a 30S, and never had any troubles with them. The 30S can use the 21's mags as well.

Im more used to the 9mm frames, and the 21/30S were just to big for me to be comfortable, so I let them go. Did just pick up a 37 (45GAP) last week. Swore I never would, but here I am. 45 in a 9mm frame. We'll see how long it lasts. :p

I agree totally, and most all my 1911 triggers were factory and in that weight range.

People laugh when you say that, but I think a lot of people think you have to tune those 1911 (or any other trigger for that matter) to get them shootable too. 5-6 pounds is about perfect for a carry gun with that sort of trigger.

Glock triggers arent bad at all, and as shootable as anything else. If you have trouble with one, dont blame the gun.

If a good local deal popped up I would give a 21 a close look.

That magazine size in a big bore with some buffalo bore outdoorsmen would be handy to have around.

When I do my part, I can shoot tight groups on a target with my Gen4 21. It definitely paid off to experiment with the backstraps that came in the box. The gun points better to a target for me with the large beavertail backstrap. The recoil wasn’t bad at all before I put it on, and it seems a little better since I put it on. In addition, the slide doesn’t slice up the web of my shooting hand, which it did before I put the large BT backstrap on.

I’m the opposite. I think the short frame of the Glock 21 Gen 4 without any backstrap is what makes the 21 doable for me. My hands aren’t tiny but they are average to below and a bigger grip would not fit nearly so well. I took advantage of the Blue Label program for Veterans that Glock has offered the last couple years between Memorial and Veteran’s Day.

Glocks and 45 ACP just seem like two things that don't really go together, kind of like a fish taco. Wouldn't doubt that they shoot well, and any Glock is going to be near indestructible, but I just don't have an interest in them.

I like my .45 Glocks better than any of my 9/40 glocks. I shoot them better, too. Don't know why.

@AK103K and @jmr40 the trigger WEIGHT of a glock may be similar to the weight of a crappy 1911 trigger. But there are a lot of subtleties other than weight when discussing triggers. That's like saying a 108 lb playboy bunny is effectively the same as a 108 lb MMA fighter. TECHNICALLY in one measurement they are identical. but..... :uhoh:

My 6# 1911 triggers arent crappy, nor are my Glock triggers that are about the same weight.

And if the 108# MMA fighter is someone like Gina Carano....you can have the bunny. :p

Where the difference lies when it comes to people worrying on the triggers is, "trigger phobia". And if thats the issue, youre focused on the wrong thing when you shoot.

I have big hands and without the beavertail, the wider slide of the 21 would cut the web of my hand to ribbons every time out. It’s what I have to do to make the gun work for me.

I remain a fan of 45ACP in Glocks. I find the accuracy just fine, with the normal longevity we have come to know and love. Having seen them in personal and professional work, I find the G21 to be one heck of a service, Go to War gun, and the G30 to be an awesome concealed gun.

I carried a 21C for several years as my duty gun. Great gun. Large though. I have big hands so it fit me well but other people definitely have issues with the grip size.

I've always found the 21 to be a very accurate gun.

Since we are talking Glock 21s, we needed a picture. Here is my plainclothes rig for my 21....made by Tim Thurner of TT Gunleather. Shark and Bull hide.

G21 is good to go in my book.
My first glock was a g30sf, I liked it so much I bought a g21. I couldn't tell much difference between the g30 and the g21 but carried the 30 much more often. Then I got a g20 because it fit the same holsters. Then when I wanted a full size I would go for the g20 and I found I didn't have a need for the g21 anymore, so I sold it. Regret it a little but for me the g30 is very much the same . the large frame glocks are where it's at for me, I don't meddle with 9s or 40s in any type of gun so the smaller glocks don't interest me.
Except for the g42, just because it's handy and has the same operation as my other glocks. Plus I think 380 acp is a sweet little cartridge for a small gun.

yeah gonna disagree with ya there. I own many many glocks and shoot them well, but not cause of the trigger being like a 1911. not even close.
