Got a brand spanking new G22 the other day.
I had sold my old one a year or so when my money woes were worse then they are now.
I was tired of being undergunned so I didn't wait to find a deal or do a cdnn thing...

I was carrying it in a IWB holster from Galco
The holster has been in storage for awhile but basically "new" ...So I tried some practice drawing from concealment drills and I've really got to struggle to unholster! Several waaaay to long seconds to even get it out.
Great retention but horrible in an emergency.
Is it the finish? the old gun wasn't anywhere as black as the new one, holster?
It hasn't been used in a year and a half...anyone have any good ideas?

Just put your gun in a plastic bag, and leave it in the holster for a few days. I wouldn't put anything on it , unless the manufacturer says you can.:)

Saddle Soap + Leave your gun in it for a few days & Or Break it in by holstering and un-holstering frequently.

I had to do the Holster <-> Unholster thing with my Cordura Bianchi OWB Paddle holster before my G22 could do either relitivly smoothly, took me 2 weeks.

With no gun in it, the leather probably shrank a little during that time. Wrap the unloaded gun tightly in some plastic wrap or wax paper, cram it into the holster and leave it there for a couple of days. Also keep working the gun in and out of it. There is some product called Leather Lightning (?) that you can put on the inside of the holster and use as a lubricant without softening the leather.
