I ordered a new Taurus pt1911 and picked it up yesterday. It was raining out and I almost didn't go out to shoot it. The kid in me won when I thought of a place where I could stand inside an old barn (made picking up my brass much easier ) and shoot out to a target. My dad lives about a mile from where I was shooting. He used to have a Colt series 70 so I wondered if he still had any 45 ammo laying around. I stopped by and it took him awhile to answer the door. I went in and immediately I could tell that he wasn't feeling well. He said he hadn't been feeling well since Monday. This happened yesterday (Thursday).
He's on chemo for cancer so anytime he is sick it is a big deal. I asked him if he wanted me to take him to the doctor because he wasn't in any shape to drive. He's a stubborn old Ba***** and he didn't give up to much of a fight. We had to practically drag him to the doctor when his appendix burst. The doctor suspected that it had been ruptured for a month before he finally went in. That is when they found the cancer.
I got him to an urgent care facility and they got 70 over 50 for his blood pressure. He normally has high blood pressure. They told me to take him to the emergency room. They think that basically he was dehydrated so they are pumping him full of fluids and other stuff.
I can only think that he wouldn't have made it another day. My mother is in the nursing home right now so he is by himself. If the kid in me hadn't taken over to go shoot in the rain, he may not have made it.
