Nice start. Hopefully it will lead you to the joys of mid and full sized Kimber among others.

Todd.

Congratulations on your purchase. Be careful next thing you know you will probably be wanting a 1911.

Every gun enthusiast needs at least one quality revolver and a 1911. Neither would be my 1st pick for SD purposes, but they ain't for sale either. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride. We don't bite... mostly... And if you like the baby Kimber, you'll probably love a full-size model (the TLE II being one of my favorites).

Mike my problem is i've got Trump hands. A full size 1911 is too big for me. I know i've tried!

I understand. We all have to find what works best for us. I have a little Kahr CM9 that is hard to shoot well for me because there just isn't enough there for me to hold on to. I suspect it is easier for someone with smaller hands.
Watch out though. This sight is full of enablers. There is always another gun or at least that is how it seems for me.

My only complaint is the one magazine thing. I have a chance to buy a Ruger LCP 2 that I mentioned in another post for $300. But that too has only one magazine. My friend bought a Taurus and got THREE! magazines with it.
So I know it varies from gun to gun. In the case of Kimber they want to sell me a second magazine for $41. Here's a thought. why don't they offer a gun with one clip and the same gun with two. Customer choice is always good business.
I would rather pay more for the pistol and not have to hassle with trying to find one online.

Nice pistol!

How does it shoot?
To tell you the truth I only have one box of 9mm which Cabelas "allowed" me to buy with the purchase so I only dared shoot ten rounds just to see that everything is ok. And it shoots fine. But obviously 10 rounds is not really going to tell the tale until I can scrounge up another box of 9 m m I won't really be able to work it out

...I only have one box of 9mm which Cabelas "allowed" me to buy...

Reminds me of the '80's, when a fifty round box of cartridges was like Christmas, and you felt duly provisioned for the house.

Those days seem unreal when I look at my ammo stash now. Let's hear it for concrete floors.

When conditions allow, figure out which ammo you and the gun like, then stack it deep.

And welcome to the forum.

My only complaint is the one magazine thing.
Magazines are complicated bits of engineering (and that complexity is under-appreciated).

Some manufacturers simplify their operations by having other factories make their magazines. Which is good for those factories since they can be in the lucrative after-market.

But, that also means they are paying for the magazines directly, so it costs them extra to supply more than the one magazine.
And often as not, the case the guns comes in is seldom designed to have space for all the extra magazines "we" think are necessary.

Mac I have two spare magazines on order for the Kimber each is a 7 round mag since this weapon is going to be my primary weapon for self-defense if I can't defend myself in a home invasion with 21 rounds I guess I deserve my fate!:p
