I was just looking at my 2010 manual today and was wondering why I never upgraded to the 2011 edition. Somehow I missed it...Glad the 2012 is coming.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hodgdon® Powder Co. will release its 9th Annual Manual early next year.

The 2012 Hodgdon Annual Manual features 100+ pages of rifle and pistol data with over 5,000 load recipes. The load data covers 30 Hodgdon, 19 IMR® and 10 Winchester® brand powders.

New content this year includes: 300 AAC Blackout load data, and lead-free bullet recipes for 21 rifle cartridges.

In addition, the new 2012 Manual spotlights Hodgdon’s new CFE™223 propellant. Tests of this new powder show that it can deter copper fouling in many cartridge types (“CFE” stand for “Copper Fouling Eraser”). The 2012 manual provides plenty of reloading recipes for the new CFE™223 — 147 loads for 27 cartridges.

Along with comprehensive load data, the 2012 manual offers seven authoritative articles by top gun and outdoor industry writers. One interesting article covers economical hand-loading with lead free “green” bullets. Both competitive shooters and hunters will find other articles of interest.

Retail is supposed to be $8.99.

Brownwood! Do you shoot USPSA? We just had a match in Coleman last week and I think Angelo is next week.

No, we don't do USPSA or IDPA at our range. I wish we did. I have heard about the Coleman range and matches but haven't made it over there yet. ;)

5 bays, mostly close and fast with some occasional steel (poppers, Texas star, falling plates, etc). Good bunch of guys too. You have nearly a month until the next match...plenty of time to fine tune and look up directions to the range. ;)

Only con is there is no bathroom...and I'd bring a cooler in the summer with iced drinks. Gets mighty hot out there.

Come on out!

I really see no good reason to buy the Hodgdon yearly manual considering all the same data is on the Hodgdon Load Data Site and that's for free...

You may not always have access to a computer and having the hard copy data is handy but unless you shoot one of the newer cartridges you will find repeat data from previous editions. I quit buying them a couple years back because they omitted the load data on some of the older rounds in favor of newer cartridges to conserve page count. The 221 Fireball comes to mind as one specific example. Seems 2004 or 2005 was the last time they published load data for the Fireball.

I wish Hogdon would publish inserts to their hard-bound ring binder/manual when they add new cartridges or updated data loads. You could just open the rings and stick them in the book and your data would always be current.

I use the print feature on their WEB site and a 3 hole puncher to make the pages ready for my binder. I keep a copy of the data for the calibers I use most in a binder along with my load notes.

I keep my load data printouts in a small binder with plastic sleeves. When load data changes, I replace the pages in the plastic sleeves.

Using contrasting colored highliters for calibers I load helps me quickly identify the load data and helps prevent mixing up load data.

BTW, aren't Hodgdon and Alliant due to publish load data for Berry's plated bullets? I am assuming "lead free" bullets mentioned are plated bullets. I tell you, really looking forward to finally seeing some load data for Berry's bullets to find out how close I have been loading them.

I don't think "lead-free" is plated.
That would be the solid copper bullets.

Plated bullets are LEAD, they're just encapsulated in copper.

Bought a copy of the 2012 Hodgdon magazine/manual yesterday (12/19) at the local Kroger's grocery store.

I wish my Kroger's sold that kind of stuff.

I've been printing out the load data for all my calibers and a few I don't have yet. Good idea with the binder and highlighters.
