New Member from Godzone!!!

:D Hi I'm Iain, I live in the city of Whangarei, in Northland, New Zealand. For those of you that are not familiar with my Homeland, Northland is the bit at the top of the North Island, starts about 100miles North of Auckland, and finishes when the land runs out, just North of Cape Reinga. I was brought to Godzone(New Zealand) by my parents in 1964, and other than a couple of world tours and a few trips to Australia, have been here ever since! I have held a firearms licence for forty odd years, and still own my first rifle, an Anschutz 720 semi auto. In recent years I joined the New Zealand Historical and Antique Arms Association, and started collecting ex military firearms, and other guns that took my interest. I was led to your site, when I was looking for information on a JC Higgins rifle, that I was interested in but new nothing about! Found the information on one of your threads, I bought it, and picked it up from the courier today..... interesting history!!!

SO HERE I AM!!!:):):)

Hey all,

I'm not entirely new as I've been lurking in THR and TFL for awhile.
I had to reply here to try to help those in need find reloading components or loaded ammo.
I hope my contribution helps.

Good shooting,
Bill

Hello, THR! I'm new here - lurked off and on for a few years, but I noticed yesterday there's a hunting forum here, so I joined up. I've been trying to get into hunting for a couple years now, but still never been on a successful hunt yet. Trying to connect with some experienced hunters to learn the basics.

I collect guns, have around a dozen at the moment. Big fan of Sig, Beretta, HK, S&W, Remington and a few others brands.

I plan to be more active here in the future - looking forward to exchanging plenty of useful info!

Hey -- new member

Hi, my name's Bob and I hail from the People's Republic of New Jersey. Into blackpowder (partial to flinters) and been been doing so since the late 1960's. Got my first kit from Turner Kirkland of Dixie Gun Works when I was 12 and assembled it with the help of my dad in our basement shop. Been building and repairing 'em ever since -- longest love affair of my life, lol.
Glad to be here as I've derived much pleasure from the knowledge gained and hope to share some too.

I'm fairly new. I'm in Kansas. I'm beginning my collection slowly. I like the older ex-military firearms.

Newbie from Texas. At age 62 last November (2012) a buddy took me to an indoor range. Gave me a good run down on basic safety, stance and grip. He started me with his wife's .38 Lady Charter. Then his Ruger LCP, Ruger SR9, then his Ruger SR40C (Yes he's a Ruger fan also has two SR556's, Sr1911 (Which he let me shoot next time out with him) He also has an LCR revolver that he just doesn't let anyone use) I just fell in love with the Sr40c. Purchased that between Thanksgiving & Christmasthat year. Got my TX CHL in March (Took about 6 weeks). I carry my Ruger SR40C in a 3Speed Holster I wear it from time i awake till I go to bed. (It took my wife a little time to get used to me wearing it around the house)

Hi,

Another new guy. I live in MI and I'm a gun-a-holic. :D

Interests- I'm active politically and visit the state capitol, sit in on committees and talk to politicians about liberty and gun rights. Make phone calls, write letters, emails, faxes to state and fed representatives in support of liberty. Volunteer time to campaign for favorite politicians.

Definitely not a FUDD. I like all guns and support ones right to not like guns, but draw the line when you try to take mine or tell me what you think I should be able to own.

Served in the USMC during Reagan and Bush, watched communism fall in the USSR only to be extremely disappointed and see communism/progressives take power in this country.

Hello,

I finally stopped lurking and responded to a post, so I thought I should post here also. I am in Maryland. I have several riles, shotguns, and handguns. My wife and I recently purchased new pistols to beat the new MD laws. Mine a Ruger SR40c, and hers a XDm 45 5.25. I found this site through word of mouth.

Hi, My name is Garry, I am Army retired. Unfortunately I currrently reside in California. I am mostly into home defense weapons. I lost most of my weapons when I deployed to Iraq, and my Wife(now X) got rid of everything. I currently just have a Smith & Wesson OR-15, that I have customized and I have a glock 40. My uncle left me a New Service Colt 45 and I am just trying to find info on it. I used to follow and read about guns all the time. But haven't does so in at least 10 years.

Winchester 1894

I am a new member, my interest is mostly shotguns. I have a winchester 1894 38/55 cal. Serial number 28890. This gun was manufactured in 1895, in good shape, I shoot it, but a box of shells is $40.00. Thinking about selling any idea of value?

Hi I bought my first pistol in 1973 same with a rifle a few months later The laws in Michigan at that time were a bit much I was fingerprinted backround checked out by the state capitol .. moved to Fla around 79 bought my second pistol... I needed a valid Fla drivers license was all, what a pleasant surprise. Here in NC somr crazy things happened over the years Things like the Sheriff decided you could only get 5 permits a year for a pistol. When I got the chance to have a carry permit unlimmited pistol buying no extra backround check by some clown in DC .. I went for it .. still have some real stupid laws but slowly things are getting better . I would describe myself as a very committed Christian but not at all religious .. married retired happy as can be ..

Hello from Northeast Florida

Hello everyone, I am a military veteran, and now in law enforcement. I love guns and especially love reloading. I like older guns and the history behind them. I look forward to reading the posts and meeting all of you. This forum is awesome, keep up the good work mods.

Greeting all!

My name is Tony. I am the VP of Engineering for AMSEC, the safe company. I have been there for over 25 years. I know a little bit about safes.

I am a conservative, gun loving American living in the Peoples Republic of California. I am a lifetime NRA member, and a political activist contributing to whatever cause I find that fights the liberal march to take our firearms away and socialize our country.

I have a modest collection of firearms, I'll keep that complete list confidential. Suffice it to say that an intruder will be experiencing a serious case of lead poisoning from multiple calibers and weapons. I'm an excellent shot with any weapon, so don't screw with me.

I have been shooting since I got my Daisy BB gun at the age of about 7 years old, back in the mid-sixties. I have grown up a hunter and fisherman in the central valley of California, all types of game has been served on our tables. Started varmint shooting, small game and bird hunting at about 10 years old, never stopped.

I discovered THR just last night, and it seems like my kind of place. I hope I can contribute in a positive way and serve the cause.

I am a new member. My interests are hunting, self defence, ccw, reloading, and casting bullets. Thank you for having me.

New to High Road

Hi All,

I'm excited to be joining the community. I'm in Los Angeles and one of those people that came to enjoy shooting as a grown up after a gun free youth in New England. I've always had an interest in military firearms and now enjoy target shooting with my Beretta M 9 and Type 56 rifle, that's really a Chinese SKS. It's been fun getting the SKS cleaned up and working again after decades of storage, although I still get some stove pipes if I go through about 60 rounds or so. I hope it just needs more cleaning to get the cosmoline out.

I'm thinking about the next purchase and debating either another hand gun, maybe an XD 45, or a shotgun. The 870 is a true legend, and every home probably needs a good shotgun in it, but here's my dilemma. I have a very firearms inexperienced wife and a 4 year old daughter. If I get another hand gun, I could give my wife the M 9, and I would have the SKS and a hand gun. If the SHTF and I wasn't home, she could take the M 9. On the other hand, If I get the shotgun, she'd still take the M 9, and I'd take the shotgun and we'd ditch the SKS if we had to walk out of the house. I can't really see her carrying the SKS in one hand and our girl in the other so we probably can't take both long guns with us. I can, however, see her with the Beretta in a holster.

I guess it comes down to either, two new and reliable hand guns and a long gun that is not 100% reliable yet, or a hand gun and a shot gun that are both 100% reliable.

Any thoughts suggestions?
