Newbie

I am new here but not to guns. My interest has been re-kindled due to my conspiracy theory friends. With all this ammo bs going on I am having to give in. So, I'm digging out the old stuff and renewing old relationships. This forum was recommended by members on the SKS board. (yes, I have dug out that $77 rifle purchased in the 90's and re-aquainting myself with it). Looking forward to familiarizing myself with this board.

Old broads love guns too

Over the weekend I took a CCW class. What a blast! The instructors were great. I took my Glock 17 and Accu-tek AT380 II. First time I had used the Glock and I was not disappointed. The Accu-Tek was a waste, so many problems that the instructors said it was unsafe to carry. Guess I will have to replace it with another Glock :):)

This is my first time so be gentle with me I'm from Missouri love to shoot I just bought a Remington bdl 700, I also have socom 2 , AR 15 and several 45 but I'm not a hunter I'm as far right as you can get and no I'm not a tree hugger. I just love animals. I was trying to find out the differance between ADL and BDL any help

Difference begtween Rem ADL and BDL

I had a link that spelled it out well but it would not copy and paste properly ?

At any rate the ADL was the cheaper version and lacked the adjustable trigger, did not have an access floor plate on the fixed magazine, as well as other cost saving differences (like quality of the wood/stock)

Hello,

I live in Minnesota. Have been a Carry Permit Holder for 5 + years now. I Hunt/Fish. I love to get out and shoot when time allows for it. Main interest it Auto-pistols. Recently took interest in Reloading. Look forward to enjoying this forum!

I'm a former Marine armorer. Just wanted to see what kind of weapons others use/prefer. Never know, I might even find myself a new favorite but I've always found myself partial to colt, savage, browning and Remington. Good hunting everyone!

I am new. Have Questions, seeking answers.

Your Powder is WET!!!

April fools. Sorry I could not resist.

Aloha, I've been looking through and reading from this site for a few months now and decided it was time to join in. I've been into firearms for a few years now and just got into re-loading about six months ago. I started with rifles and shotguns and have found a new love of revolvers. I am also an RC NUT....lol

Roam

Grew up in a small town by the Sacramento River. Could shoot and fish anywhere I wanted. Shot BB guns, rifle and shotguns of many manufactures. Most of my fire arms were treated in a rough fashion, by crawling in the mud to get close enough to the game. Shot a Ruger single six until the trigger catch wore out and had to buy a new one. Still shoots like a dream.
My safe holds new shotguns and rifles and still looking for something better; Which is how I found this site. I am presently interested in a POF 308.
I am fascinated with the metals and their treatment to make an accurate and for me, a long range rifle. I love to be able to hit the target at long ranges consistently.
The more I learn about all of this, the more I want to learn.

First post - Thank God for the internet...LOL

Okay so I am new to shooting (well, 30 years later I think counts as new..its been that long). About a month ago I bought a Bersa Thunder 380 and a Marlin 60. Love shooting...been to the range at least 8 times since then.

Now I am one of those guys who has to learn more about things than just loading in and pulling the trigger. So cleaning. I can strip both and clean quite well. I did that today after the range. Took the Marlin apart, stripped, cleaned, oiled...was great. Put the stock back on, pull the charging lever back and it seemed to go further than usual...and I could not get it to release. Oh no. Take apart again, fiddle, nothing. Oh crap, gunsmith time.

Then I searched the net and found a post on THR. Turns out the Marlin has an extra LOCK safety. Pull the level back and PULL RIGHT, it releases...So a BIG thank you to the folks who pointed it out. I decided to join. I enjoy helpful forums.

I am already looking at other guns. For a handgun, it is a tie between
GLOCK 19 Gen 4
Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm

For rifles, I am looking at
Level action .30
AR type .223

Less sure on a rifle than the handgun.

Anyway, glad to be aboard...I will be reading through the posts from you great folks to GLEEN what I can.

You can call me Rob, I live in the PNW...I like computers, high end audio (including tube amps, turntables, etc...), and long walks on the beach...with a handgun of course...LOL

welcome aboard! yes the internet and these guys are a wealth of info.looks like you got your eye on some pretty good choices of guns.

as for the rifles, it would depend a lot on what you want to do with it. you mite look at bolt actions also. there are lots of good choices out there rite now in entry level bolt guns in common calibers. happy shooting!!!

Hi Rob. This is indeed a very helpful forum. While I didn't cut my teeth here, I really evolved as an educated shooter, and 7 years into my membership at THR, I continue to evolve and learn every day here. It's a great group of folks with wonderful moderators who who work as a team to keep it on the high road, doing justice to the forum's name.

Thanks folks...

Well, I am certainly willing to learn and appreciate a forum as "robust" as this one. I belong to a similar forum for audio - same type of expertise where no matter the age of the equipment or the question, there is someone experienced that can help.

Again thanks for the welcome !

Rob,I'm glad you found THR and it helped you out from the start, I know I've learned a lot from the expertise and knowledge from the members here.
Glad to have you.

Welcome aboard Rob! And I have to agree, better than having to wait for a gun publication to list the fix for us. Or running to the library to see if somebody included it in their book.
