Newbie

To this site that is. Been a hunter/ shooter for 40 years now, ever since I got my first Red Ryder. Shotguns, rifles and handguns, love them all. Hunt with all and my ultimate rifle to own one day is a fine double. I have been reading the posts now for awhile and finally joined.

Nice to meet you all. I'm a criminal prosecutor here in Ohio. Was born in Oklahoma, raised in Texas. Worked on my uncle's cattle ranch in Colorado as a young man, before law school. Firearms were part of the tool kit, as were hammers, nails, saws, rope. wire, bolt cutters, knifes, matches, cigarettes, water, a horse, and a dog. Each had its purpose, and none were extraneous. Leave something behind and it would inevitably turn out to be the thing you needed. Those were valuable lessons and they continue to guide me today.
Thanks for the invite! Very pleased to make your acquaintances.

Hello

Well, basically just getting back into firearms in a new state, Florida, and I have tons of questions! I was raised shooting, boy scout and all, but its been a few years since I pulled a trigger. Looking to get a small rifle soon and then go for my cwp. So, yeah.....Hello to you all!:)

New guy here out of the great State of Arizona! Over the past few years I've routinely benefited from THR knowledge via web searches. I just now got around to finally becoming a member.

I grew up with guns... can't ever remember a time not having one past my 10th birthday (.410 double-barrel Savage/Stevens with a cut-down stock... woot! woot!). But I've just started becoming involved in the shooting sports.

Happy to be here. Thanks for this resource!

Hello from Texas (DFW area)

LTC for about 2 1/2 years.
Not much I don't like regarding firearms, but 1911's and BHP's are my favorites, probably because I am an old former M60 tanker.
NRA member for a number of years, but after Orlando and the stunts in Congress, decided it was time to become an NRA Life Member.
Want to begin IDPA or something like it.
Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior!
Look forward to the forum, thanks!

Just in....

Hello. I am in W.Ky. Im a family man and an outdoorsman. Glad to be part of a place to talk with like minded people.

New Guy

Hi all,

I've been a member here for a couple years but kind of lurked in the past.
I've been collecting and shooting for many years.

I wanted to say hello and thanks for a great forum.

Brand new member here but not new to firearms by any means.
Active duty Navy Seabee and ESAMI
Currently located in the Democratic Republic of Commie-fornia...stationed AND HOR (home of record)
Have 3 CCWs but CA isn't one of them, residing in SD Co and HOR is LA Co (I'll be waiting a while)
My other money pits...I mean "hobbies" include drag racing and motocross which are both in limbo until I can afford them again but I always manage to scrape enough together for ammo or a new gun. Funny how that works.

Hello From Hawaii

Catching up on "paperwork"

Greetings all.

I joined a while ago but never formally introduced myself so here it is.

I came to firearms late in life. I've been on this side of the sod for more than half a century but haven't really been heavily involved with firearms until 'round 2009 (you might guess what the inspiration was). For the longest time my CFO (wife) felt there were better things to spend our hard earned money on so, when she lifted the embargo, well lets just say things moved at a pretty fast pace.

Most of my rifles are black, a couple with stainless steel barrels, and two of them I assembled from parts. I also have a number of pistols from .22LR to .45 ACP (all auto-loaders). I've started reloading ammo for every caliber I own except .22LR.

My bucket list includes taking both white tail and feral hog. That's the purpose behind my two rifle builds. One is .308 (upper built for a factory lower) the other is 6.5 Grendel (lower built for a factory upper). I just can't justify being a meat-eater without understanding how my food gets to the plate. I've hunted white tail here in Vermont a little with no success. I will endeavor to persevere.

The "D" in BigDinVT is for Dave. One of my friends growing up used to call me "Big D". I wouldn't say I'm overweight but I do displace a bit of water when I jump into the pool.

That's the short of it. Anything else of relevance you'll learn along the way.

Pleased to count myself among your numbers.

greetings D. I've always been fascinated how vermont - arguably the longest running most gun friendly of states - can elect a gun grabbin Brady towel boy like Schmuck Sanders.
but vermont is some beautiful country!

Thanks (I think).

MR Sanders isn't originally from Vermont - he's from Brooklyn, NY, by way of (you should have guessed) Chicago, IL, where he went to college.

Bernie came to Vermont in the 80's because he couldn't make it in politics anywhere else. He saw an opportunity to get elected as the mayor of the New England Liberal Mecca that is Burlington, VT, and worked his way up from there.

I was never a fan and have never voted for him in any of the elections for offices he has held. In fact, in other forums, where they cheered on Bernie's false 2A support, I warned that BS would turn against gun owners as soon as it became politically expedient for him to do so...and he did.

But that's enough on politics and certainly not fodder for this thread.

Hey everybody. My name is Andre And I livre in Brazil. Here the government controls the volume of firearms and ammunition you can buy per year by a law called disarmament statute. It is not for nothing that crime here is high. We still can go to the fireclub, but as I live away from major cities and I dont have experience with guns like you have I hope to learn the max. with you.

Thank you all and sorry about my English.

welcome, andre. your english is great. much better than my Portuguese :)0
and yes, brazil's gun control has the same effect on crime as ours -- more crime!

Hello from SoCal

Hi, just getting back into the hobby. Living in Southern California under duress for another 5 years then I'm bailing. Retired from USAF and job opened up to keep me here but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

At the moment I'm shooting .308 lever w/open sights, revolver, and trap.

I've been lurking for a while and enjoying the site. So, hello again and thanks for the good reading.

Hello from Michigan

Hello everyone, I have used this forum as a quick reference for many years, and now I've decided to join. I shoot quite a bit(mostly handgun) and I'm ready to fully explore the forum as a member.

Hello everyone, like SOAB and many others, I have occasionally used THR forum for several years and finally created a profile to participate in the discussions. I live in Georgia though I grew up in the Western high desert. I shoot mostly 9mm and .22 with an eye toward high value-to-price ratio arms. The NFA Rule 41p finally moved me to purchase a few suppressors that I'm currently waiting on, so I've watched the NFA threads quite a bit. Looking forward to future conversations.

Hello. I'm dipping my toes. I don't know much about firearms at this point in my life but I have an ever-growing interest in them. I have experience in studying historical European weapons and armor, specifically pieces from the medieval and renaissance periods. I didn't acquire a personal fondness for gunpowder weapons until recently.

I have spent a considerable amount of time expanding my knowledge and understanding of politics, and reconciling it against morality, in order to develop my stance on civil liberties. This is a matter of greater importance to me than anything else in life.
