I got my Norinco SKS and Kel-Tec SU16.
I stripped the SKS down and cleaned all the cosmoline out of it. What a pain, although it was pretty clean. I put the "mono-pod" on it (bayonets on a Chinese SKS is illegal, so it's a mono-pod not a bayonet. ), and also put on the Williams fire sight. As you see it's got the Choate conventional stock, but what you won't see is the Tapco gas piston and operating rod. I'm trying to beat the 10 or less game so the bayonet isn't illegal. I did some research and this SKS isn't a military SKS, it's a commercial version. The SN# matches throughout the gun and is "92 143xx". The only other markings on the gun say: "SKS 7.62x39 China KSI PAS. CA." Obviously imported by K-Sports, Inc. in Pomona. Not sure about the date it was made because the commercial ones are supposedly harder to determine. I cleaned everything as best I could. The only thing I couldn't do was take apart the firing pin assembly. The holding pin would not come out for anything!
The Kel-Tec SU16 is nice. Most say it looks like a toy, but it doesn't feel like one. It's actually a very sturdy firearm. I have some AR mags, but they aren't pictured. And if you don't know, the SU16 takes the AR15 mags. So there's a wide aftermarket for um... unless you're in the PRK. It also has a bipod which is supprisingly sturdy. Although this is just from my playing with it... I haven't gotten to shoot either gun yet. The SU16's sites on it right now suck nuts. So I have some AR15 style sights coming in, and then I plan on a red dot. Either an AimPoint or the Eotech Holosite.
My other guns are a HK USP, a Ruger Vaquero, and a Mossberg 12ga.
Oh and if you are cleaning guns... be sure you use a WELL VENTILATED area. I didn't. I think I killed a bunch of brain cells today. When I stood up I couldn't walk straight, and I had little volitional control over my right leg, and talked about dizzy. I was sick for a couple hours. Lesson learned. When Hoppes says well ventilated... they mean it! LOL. :uhh:
ok, here are the pics, and pics of my other guns:
Before I started cleaning:
Norinco SKS
SKS with it's "mono-pod" extended
Oops, the "mono-pod" hyperextended
