Well, I went to a gunshop to buy some pepper spray for a lady I know. Lo & behold in the used gun case was a 1920 rework (9mm) bolo Broomhandle Mauser. It's got the police markings on the front strap. Mostly matching (the floorplate & follower weren't) and no importer markings suggesting that it was imported before importers markings were required or as a souvenir (so it's not a Chinese rebuild).

The price was reasonable, my will weak and it beckoned me to bring it home. Another client hovered menancingly nearby, his eyes filled with envy. Was he a plant by the insidious ( ;) ) dealer to fuel my anxiety or was he a legitimate customer? I fondled it and it spoke to me again. "I'm the mate for your first Broomhandle." My eyes saucered. Never has a gun spoken to me before. The voice was sweet yet strong. Like the sirens who tried luring Odysseus to the rocks, my resistence was collasping quicker than walls of Jericho.

I filled out the paperwork and the dealer tucked it quietly out of sight. I hope no one else asks me to pick up anything for them.:p

Good point Mike. May buy a replacement bolt & firing pin to make it a shooter.

Gary .. of course not all people or shooters even, can hear guns speak. You can of course and I too have heard the whispers of a pining, store-bound piece.

This is the famous double edged sword ..... we listen and then yield .. letting our total altruism take over ..... ''it'' needs a home, and a darn good one too. Trouble is .. it plays hell with the bank balance!:D
