I just received an email from a friend about his latest project, so I'm reposting here on THR to spread the word, and hopefully bring a fledgling firm some business. He wrote:

Subject: We've gone live!

Afternoon & happy Friday gentlemen,

We've just launched the world's largest online gun store. 38,000+ products including guns and ammo, and prices that are 5-20% lower than any of our competitors.

Let me know what y'all think, and if you need a new firearm or ammo, let me know.

PS- it's ok to forward this if you know any shooting enthusiasts.

Thanks!

So check them out!
Cheers, desidog

Finally got in. Time to explore.

Edit: So, your friend might want to take the site off line and figure out why the performance is so bad. Too many potential customers may get turned off waiting for pages to update and render. More than three minutes (and still waiting) on the page that will show what kinds of .308 ammo is for sale.

Perhaps too many Highroaders at once...

Update, just got in, but it takes a while.

Pulled up pretty quick but it is still trying to load .22 rimfire ammo page. 4 minutes and counting. It pulled up the Tulammo items pretty quick but a lot of them said out of stock.

it did pull up everything eventually but it seems they are out of stock on a lot of common items in ammunition. They will not be very successful if they stay out of stock on Blazer .22 and basic 7.62 items. I did not look at any gun prices.

He should categorize the ammo by caliber better; the site lumps 7.62.x39, 7.62x51, and 7.62x54R together as "7.62".

Site works for me. This is a good price. I have paid 9 bucks more for same, but locally. With shipping and tax, it's on par I guess.

Site is difficult to navigate -- too many pages on, for example, Federal ammo. No way to go to caliber/type you want.

Prices unexciting.

Descriptions woefully inadequate. Is price on primers for 10000? How about bullets? Price for 100 or 50? No way to find out. :uhoh::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I noticed he doesn't have a lot of S&W in stock.

He probably picked a bad time to go business selling guns, the LGS I go to looks like he's well stocked but he told me he has had 1200 handguns on backorder for quite a while now.

He orders 10 they send him 2.

It's going to be tough for on your friend.

Good luck and hope things work out.

I agree with others.
A lot of stuff out of stock, the "in-stock" stuff doesn't seem real inexpensive by the time one adds shipping, unless the shipping is free, which I seriously doubt.

I also concur with "I hope your friend did not pay someone a lot of money to build that site!"

37,500 of those products are undoubtably not "on site", meaning they are merely using Davidsons "GunGenie" or a similiar vitrual store.

Bud's beat them by $15 on the price of a Glock 19. So much for "5-20% lower".

Yawn.

no used rifles, no gunsmithing parts.
ok price on 375 h&h ammo but no talley rings so i i'll pick up the rings, ammo, gunsmithing parts & supplies from midway, and the used guns from gunbroker and pawnshops just as i have always done.

I think you should really think about deleting this post until he can get the problems figured out with the site. Its been trying to load the home page for 6 minutes now and still nothing. For me at least, thats a big turnoff. If the webpage doesn't load in reasonable time, I find another site.
