One of the rare Remington 1894c rifles visited with me for a while. Fit and finish was pretty good. Trigger was a bit heavy. Oddly enough, it digested my .38 Special cowboy action loads just fine but I could not get it to feed a .357 Magnum cartridge.
Congrats! Hope it's a good shooter for you. I bought one of the new production 1894s in 44mag last year I guess. Aside from the wood on the stock being incredibly dry and ashy looking, the gun has been a fantastic shooter! I oiled the stock and looks and feels much better now. I'm very impressed with my Remlin. I shoot some ridiculously light 44mag rounds. They're almost hearing protection safe.
it is strange how a 6lb rifle can shoot 1350ftlb loads (buffalo bore, or back when alliant published some crazy Bluedot loads) and feel like a light push, and not too loud. While my 6lb, 1350FTLB 300BO AR reminds me of a Mauser. If its half as good as the department store level JM 94C, you'll love it. Only thing Ill say is watch your OAL if you handload, and be mindful even if you don't, because that will jam one up tight and you'll need to take it apart to fix. Also, tighten up the loading gate after a lot of shooting, because the screw gets loose.
