I just took ownership of a brand new Smith and Wesson M & P Sport a couple hours ago. I got it for $675 out the door, which is a fair price for this area. Now for the joy of buying add-ons for it and "recycling" some lead back to its native area. Pics to follow shortly after its first cleaning and lube job.

Please post a range report for us as soon as you can. I Have been very tempted to pull the trigger on one at my LGS for about two months now. I don't have an AR and I know very little about them, but from what I can see it looks like it would be a very good " first AR "

I love mine. Bought it for the farm for coyotes and bubba ninja fun (watermelons, paint cans, ya know, bubba stufff :D)

I replaced the furniture with magpul stuff, just because I like magpul and installed a streamlight light on it for night (get's really dark here in the country) and has a Bushnell red dot. The red dot I got on sale on Amazon for about $85.00 and does great.

It does exactly what I want with never and I mean never a problem.

As a retired LEO, if we used rifles instead of shotguns in my day, I would not hesitate to carry and depend on it, so it doesn't stay in the safe, but in the closet next to my bed for outside bumps in the night.
 
I've got the first version too, the 5R/melonite barrel version. Love it. I have other more expensive ARs, but the Sport shoots just as well as all of them and better than quite a most. Never a problem, never a malfunction.

I've kept this one simple, since it's a pretty simple rifle to begin with. I've only added an Aimpoint Pro and a Match back up sight. That's it.

Good choice. I picked one up in June when KyGunco.com (Kentucky Gun Company) had them on sale for $550 ($585 by the time it was in my hand from my LGS.)

However, I haven't gotten to shoot it yet! Let's see which of us can get a range report in first.. :D
