IMR 3031 is pretty good too, fairly versatile and commonly available... If you really want stouter stuff, IMR 4198 is hard to beat for max velocities.

You really should try a really light load of Trailboss though... its just so fun. You will understand once you try it.

For older rifles I use 4198 and a 405gr Cast bullet with good success. For leverguns which are a stronger action I still use 4198 with lead bullets but also use 3031 with both lead and jacketed bullets. For very heavy jacketed bullet I have also used H4895.

Does anyone use H322 and the 425grain Pile Driver JR?
Does anyone use H4198 and 350grain Lead Flat nose?
Thinking of Pile driver Jr as my shock and awe. :)
and the 350 for general purpose field.

I use H322 for the Beartooth 405 LFN/GC...its awesome.

Fast, accurate, hard hitting...I believe about 50 grains of H322 is max with the 425 Pile Driver, Jr...should be right around 1900-1950 fps. (in a 22" barrel)

But as always...work up and be careful.

It will be out of a 18inch Stainless Marlin Guide gun, I have some Buffalo Bore Magnum's left over from living in Alaska and I just can't justify there cost for just shooting. So I am going to buy some dies and play a little. Thank you!
Anyone else?

I use 27 grains of N-120 under a 1/5th of a sheet of tissue paper, and a .475 grain soft lead bullet without a gas check. Get fairly decent accuracy at 100 meters.
