New rifle recommendation

I am in the market for a new hunting rifle in 30-06 or 300 WSM caliber. I have 2 custom Remington .308 tactical rifles but the last hunting rifle I owned was a Remington 700 Stainless BDL in .308 which I sold about 6 years ago.

I want a light weight rifle, under $800 for the rifle only, and just for variety I don't want a Remington. I was leaning toward a Winchester or Sako.

Any thoughts on these 2 or maybe something else I should be looking at?

I will be probably be mounting a Zeiss Conquest with a German #4 reticle on it, the rifle will be my "one" hunting rifle.

in order that i would go:
remington 700 mountain rifle.
remington model 7
sako finnlight
winchester featherlight
ruger compact

and that is where i'd draw the line.

get ahold of talley for your ring/base needs.

Winchester Featherweight would be an excellent choice.

Half those rifles he listed don't come in .30-06 or .300.


Savage 110 would be very nice. Not superlightweight, but enough.

TIKKA T3 LITE i have one and it is awesome! weighs about 7 lbs with scope and has awesome trigger pull. It comes with a detachable 3 round clip and 5 round is availibale. I paid 540 for mine and 310 for the scope and have about 100 in accesories, comes with scope rings too. its a SAKO company and imported from finland by berretta.
