I have to say it has a couple imperfections but overall I am very happy with it. I am still awaiting the true moment of truth when I hit the range with it but it feels great in hand and is every bit the equal of the Ruglins I have handled. The stock fit is the biggest flaw I see IMG_5094.jpeg

Congrats on the great acquisition!

I spent years looking for one at every gun show I could go to. And then one day I finally found a used LNIB Rossi M92 in .45 Colt. It had the 16" barrel and the large loop lever. I only put it back down on the table once we agreed on the price. Took it home and examined it more closely.

The action was as smooth as silk, as if someone had already done the work for me and overall the fit and finish were first rate! It is one handy and fast handling little carbine!

That is a very nice rifle! I have a couple of 16” Rossi 92’s, in .357 and .45 Colt, and neither have wood that looks as nice as your .454’s. (Mine have sort of a cheapy-looking reddish stain.)

That rifle will have some horsepower with full power loads, looking forward to a range report when you get a chance to fire it.

Stay safe.

Sweet rifle!! I have long been a fan of the wood furniture like that. The slight imperfections are pretty much something I would not be surprised by any more at the price point. Great cartridge for a lever like that as so easy to roll for and so wide a range of what you can make. Looking forward to hearing how it shakes out. Sure looks like it will be a ton of fun.

A couple years ago I gave up on a 454 and grabbed a Rio Grande 45-70. Not unhappy but would like the stubby fireballs..

I got pretty lucky with my 20" blued model 92 in .454 Casull. The wood to metal fit is first rate. I replaced the ejector spring with one from Stevesgunz.com and of course it made a huge difference in how smooth it cycles.

It's very accurate too, even out to 100 yards. My only gripe is that it's hitting about 2" left at 100 yards. I've tried drifting both the rear and front sights, but my ham-handedness isn't helping. Very soon I'll be having the receiver drilled and tapped for a Williams FP sight. I have one on my .357 Rossi 92 and absolutely love it.

Another good thing to do is to replace the plastic mag tube follower with an aluminum or steel one. Stevesgunz.com has those as well.

My favorite loads using .454 Casull brass have been plinker loads with 10 grains of Unique and the RCBS 45-270-SAA bullet, which is a 280 grain SWC. I'm still working up full power loads with 320 - 340 grain cast bullets and Alliant 300MP. I'm honestly not sure I can stuff enough 300MP in the case to get up to 60kpsi.
