I have been wanted to purchase another 22LR rifle for a while and I do realize this is not the time to but sem-auto

Anyway did a new Ruger 10/22 (basic model...black synthetic blued) go new for $225-$250 ? BX2-25 went for $25 ? (now going fo $100)

I have an oportunity to buy a new Ruger 10/22 with (2) BX2-25 just wanted to see what the pre scare fair price was to see if I should go for it or just pass; I'm thinking about $275 was the new pre scare price. Looks like Thanks.

Before the panic, 10 22's here in orlando were routinely on sale for 199, regularly 225. The BX 25 mags are typically 25 to 30. So your right on with 275. Youll love it. Good luck.

"That was then, this is now. . . $450 to $500 for a 10/22 with a single BX-25 magazine."

I know....the "now" price for this one is $400 with a pair of BC-25 mags....don't want to pay s $125 premium.

Anything .22 LR and in semi auto will cost you . The demand is so high so dont expect pre panic prices. You d be very lucky to find one.

.and when you do, you won't be able to find 22LR ammo :-(

I'm quite aware !!!! I do have some in stock but can't find any bulk online or local.

The good thing is that receivers are still somewhat plentiful. One can get a M.O.A receiver in real stainless steel for same price as before the panic. Other makes are still going for about the same price. Getting an aftermarket 10/22 receiver allows one to build a pistol and a rifle, at least with current laws. Of course, this is if your original intent was to build a custom job.

If your intent is to build a custom job, it is definitely in your best interests to start with an aftermarket receiver.

If you like the 10/22, there is another .22 rifle you might find interesting. It is the M161K Baikal, made in Russia. Forget the Kalashnikov fit and finish. Sleek composite stock with a pistol grip. Vaguely resembles the CX4 Beretta carbine. Inside however you will find a modified 10/22 action. The improvements include
• Removable breech end that doubles as the recoil buffer. It allows bolt removal and insertion through the breech, instead of forcing it in through the bottom against the recoil spring pressure
• Single stack flush mag with a better mag release design
• Hefty front sight attached to the forend, not the barrel
• Top rail is also standard
• Stock adjustable for both LOP and cheek rest.
The Baikal is very accurate out of the box. Street price is about $300 as we speak. I don't know if they are still imported.

That Baikal is a neat looking 22! I couldn't find any for sale. I only did a very quick Google search for one though.

I have looked for another 10/22 lately and have looked at no less than four who responded to my WTB advertisement. I could have had three of them for $150, one of which is newish stainless/synthetic. As it turns out, I am looking for a beater with a donor receiver to build my own, but these offers prove they exist.

What surprises the hell out of me is the lack of ten round 10/22 magazines anywhere online. I really didn't see that coming. Even in my home state of PA, where there is no looming magazine or AW ban, there are no ten rounders to be had. That surprises me. Guess I will just have to get by til supply catches up.

I saw one at the Indy 1500 show last weekend. Asking price was about 370 and it remained unsold as of Sunday morning. Still a good deal. The public just doesn't realize what is under that plastic stock. It is a well engineered 10/22 clone. I did not know that when I bought mine, until I field stripped it. But the place to find one today is Gunbroker. One sold recently for 240. All my info is 1st hand.

Don't know about picking up a 10/22 local to you but you can still order the BX-25 magazines from Ruger. They are on back order of course, but if you are patient you can get them at $31.95 each plus shipping. I just ordered two for $73.90 with shipping.
