I think I made the best gun trade of my life today.

A Yugo 59/66 I bought for about 150 bucks several years ago (non-bubba'd) +260 rounds of ammo (that I bought when it was also cheap), for a brand-new Ruger Single Six convertible, blue, fixed sights, barrel the same length as the ejector housing (4 5/8 or whatever).

I haven't shot the SKS in years. Thought it was cool when I bought it, but got bored quickly.

Dad taught me how to shoot on a .22 revolver very similar to this one - H&R, IIRC. I'm going to get a lot more use out of this than I ever did that rifle.

It's nice to have the dead wood out of the safe, and to have something I know I'm really going to like.

Straight trade, no cash. He was asking 419.00 on the Ruger. I think I did okay!

I just got one of those in stainless. I love the thing! Have shot it a good bit in both .22 and .22 mag. Both are quite accurate although the POI differs a bit. Betcha can't wear it out!

Definitely a great trade! You'll love that Ruger! Btw, I have a modified SKS in my gun locker and seldom shoot it. It's pretty tricked out with an ATI stock, bipod and scope, so maybe I should do the same thing. (For you SKS purists out there, no lectures on the mods, ok? )

Critter, I doubt I'll wear it out, but it won't be for lack of trying!

9mm+ - I think you could probably make a trade for that SKS. They have sure gone up in price around here.

You made a killer deal. The Single Six is a great plinker, hunter, trainer, all around fun gun. I want you to come with me to the next gun show and work deals for me!

You won't wear it out. Bought my .22/.22 mag Single Six in 1966. Still going strong.

Favorite thing to do over the years - take someone to the range and let them shoot a couple cylinders of .22 shorts. Then switch cylinders to the .22 mag.

Yeah, but SKSs are going for 350 now, the cheap Yugos. But, any deal is a great deal if you like what you traded for. I don't have a single six, but love my Blackhawks and Old Army.

MCg - I do know that the SKS prices have gone up. That's why I was able to trade for this revolver and have the shopowner feel like he made a good deal. Honestly, that's one of the reasons I bought the SKS in the first place - I thought, well, it's not going to be worth less in a few years if I decide to sell it.

Basically equal value in today's money, and I did want to get rid of the SKS anyway. I took it in to the shop to have him sell it for me on consignment, and then I saw this revolver and asked him if he'd do a trade with me on it instead.
