Not sure if this has been posted here, but Ruger released a new model recently.

Now comes complete with the Samson folding stock from the factory, along with the parts the GB model came with, i.e.,flash hider and bayonet lug. Time for your inner Mr. T to come out.

Price, Ruger being Ruger is asking $1850, like the regular models weren’t expensive enough.

Comes with nickel-teflon mags, which many stainless Mini owners would no doubt enjoy. But knowing Ruger, they will be very proud of them and price them accordingly.

Seems like a great model offering which specifically targets the generation of folks which are still hungry for Mini's, as well as offering a feature option which may entice younger shooters to take a chance on one.

Ruger always posts their MSRPs extremely high for some reason. A box-stock Ranch Rifle is listed at $1250 on their website, when it's probably 20% lower on the shelf.

Anyway, I don't mind it at all. I thought this was going to be a continuation of the tacticool Minis from a few years ago, with lots of black plastic, an AR-style adjustable stock, etc. This Mini seems more content to be its own thing.

I love that stock - I run it on mine, though its a pretty bone stock Mini-14 with just that stock as an upgrade. Still, between the rifle being on clearance and a dealer discount from Brownells I think I've got around $750 in mine, so I'm happy with it.

I've always loved that stock, especially in stainless, with the nickel magazines.

Nostalgia...like parents who live their lives through their kids sporting events (so cringe); how many middle aged people wanted one of these when they were kids and now have the money to make that purchase. I know you are out there...

Ban states. They price them high because they have a captive market in much of the US.

Ruger has had 1) ~25% higher MSRP than street pricing on all of their models for decades, pre-ban in almost all states, and 2) has the same street margin on ALL models, not just semiautos.

It’s just a perception game like sticker pricing vs sale prices on automobiles… A lot of companies do this.

If I was 30 years younger and still working making a boat load of money, I would jump on one!
That's no lie
How many of the anti croud still have zombie ammo stashed. Lack of plastics and lack of the judge Dred look is attractive to me but my overtime days are long gone. My latest mini thirty is stainless and plastic. I learned not to unbox the scope rings. Open sights and it is what it is. It's a lot of fire powder at defensive range. Need more just over come with volume. Shoot groups , grab a group shooter. Mini's younger brother I have, the American 7.62x39 is just fine for that. The overtime days made for a tender shoulder anyway.

Considering Ruger likely used the newer series barrels seen on their other models rather than the old pencil style, the gun is probably a 2-ish MOA shooter with ammo it likes. Last I checked this is more than acceptable for the intended consumer audience.

I do want to see how it looks and shoots with bayonet attached 😁

With exception 2 moa is better than what most will get. From what I've experienced.

My buddy has an AAC556 that has the folding stock. Fun gun to shoot, but the stock, as with most folders of its type, basically sucked.

Long range accuracy was about the same as the Minis of the era, typical "meh". On full auto at realistic distances, it shoots OK.

And he paid about $1k less than the asking price above for the "real thing" back in the 80's. Sucks to be a free American in the 21st century, eh. 🙄

Owned a blued folding stock version of that gun back around 1986. Had a scope on it. In a raging North Dakota ground blizzard I laid it across the hood of my Jeepster Commando. Made a shot into the wind on a fox huddling out of the biting cold just below a snow drift cornice. I walked it off at 210 yards. Give or take a few.

My dentist who was my hunting partner that day had problems seeing the fox. Once he spotted it he stated “ You’ll never make that shot”. I pulled the trigger and a couple of seconds later the fox rolled down the drift. He followed up with “glad we didn’t bet”. I don’t doubt folks have had accuracy concerns with the Mini’s. Too many examples/comments have peppered the internet for years to deny the issue. Appears the one I had wasn’t made on a Monday after a holiday or Friday PM.

Definitely one of my favorite guns I ever owned. I don’t believe I’ve ever watched an episode of the A-Team although I knew they used the gun in the show.

I’m more than a little interested.

I put an accu-strut on my 1994ish Ranch Rifle and took it from paper plate at 50 yards offhand to tennis ball at 50 yards offhand. With iron sights that’s good enough for me and is as good as I can shoot any rifle anyway. I cleaned the 200 and 300 yard torso targets during a 3 gun match with it also. Better than my ARs as it happens LOL. But of course a lot of luck is always involved when I’m shooting rifles. Minis are frickin cool. Look great, feel great, work great, and are a cool combination of the M1 Carbine and M1 Garand and M14 internally.

Are they planning on a re-make of "The A Team" TV show too.

I never had luck shooting well with any all-steel folding-stock rifle (or shotgun).

Apparently, based on the number of rounds fired vs. total of bad guys killed per episode, neither did those guys.

Neat bit of nostalgia! But, sadly, the stock makes the gun a verboten “assault rifle” here in The Peoples Republik, so it’s no bueno.

If anyone buys one of the new ones, let us know how it shoots.

Stay safe.

Just checked the inflation calculator on the US Bur. of Labor Statistics, $500 in 1990 had the same buying power as $1210 today.

We need to factor in inflation when we make comparisons.
Agreed, but my assessment still stands, for me anyway.
If it's under 2moa, I might give $1200 for it, but I'd have to see more than one example to convince me.🙂

With Uncle Joe in La Casa Blanca, $1,500 last year will probably be $2,000 in just a couple more.

Makes me happy I picked up the 583-series Mini 14 Ranch Rifle as a police trade-in for $450 OTD in 2021. It was unissued, and to the best of my knowledge unfired, outside of the factory.

Stay safe.
