Some time back @hso posted a link where you could buy new scales for swiss army knives. I had on that had been a promo knife fro. A project that my good friend had been working on. I didn't mind the promo inscribed on the scales, but I missed the tweezers and toothpick that were lacking.
I ordered new scales in my favorite edc color, black. They soon arrived, and this rainy morning I replaced the old scales with shiny new ones, toothpick and tweezers included! $15, if I remember correctly.

So easy a farmer can do it.

There's an ethics column in the NY Times, their readers seem to worry about weighty issues like: "Is it ethical to replace the scales on a promotional knife with plain ones, thus destroying the intended advertising value of said knife, and the reason it might have been free?"

I really don't know why I think of things like this. lol

Nice job, your knife looks great, enjoy it!

I see your point.
It's rather like the diesel engine of my new combine. It has "green" exhaust regeneration system that "reburns the exhaust" making the air we breathe much cleaner.......o_O:fire::fire::uhoh::cuss::cuss:
The regen system uses a significant amount of "diesel exhaust fluid" (def) to operate. I have used about twenty five 2.5 gallons jugs of def so far. This morning I hauled them to the landfill. It was about a half of a pickup load of empty 'DO NOT REUSE THIS CONTAINER' jugs, and the boxes they came in.
Hmmmmm.? So how 'green' is this anyway??

As far as the promo scales are concerned, I would have been fine with them if they had the toothpick and tweezers.

Thanks for the compliments. They are appreciated.

Thanks for the link as I could use some new scales for a couple of my SAKs. Need to get some more tweezers too; seems like I'm always misplacing them somewhere around the house!
