SELECT FIRE TRAINING CENTER is a new shooting range, firearms training facility, and firearms-related retail store located in the former Eskay Flooring space at 1267 West Bagley Road in Berea, now fully renovated. Select Fire has 10 shooting lanes, including 4 for rifles and 6 for handguns. The range is 75 feet long, with automatic target retrievers. One can select whatever distance is desired for target placement. Select Fire was created by, and is majority owned and operated by Mark and Anne DePhillips, hard-working and nice people. Mark is also a Cleveland firefighter and is a US military veteran who was once deployed in the sandbox!

Safety is the most significant quality emphasized at Select Fire. A Range Master, a skilled and experienced shooter, range instructor and enforcer of safety is always on site, overseeing all shooting. New and experienced shooters alike are carefully watched and firearm safety is taught and enforced. The Range Master is always eager to help train shooters of any experience level.

The facility itself includes the latest and greatest safety technology. The backstops for the range are constructed of heavy steel armor, backed by cinderblock, and a large, thick, high dirt berm. The side walls contain Kevlar and steel armor plate and the ceiling is armored with heavy steel. No stray rounds will exit the Select Fire state of the art facility. Of course, there is also a state of the art air handling system, to remove fumes and keep the air safe.

Annual memberships sold out quickly. Discounts are offered to those who help keep us safe, including discounts for EMS, Law Enforcement, Firemen, and Active and Retired U.S. Military personnel. Range time is available in half-hour or longer blocks of time for non-members.

Select Fire brings good jobs to Berea, employing friendly, knowledgeable and skilled people. The jobs created include ten permanent range jobs (with hopefully more to follow) and about twenty temporary construction types of jobs to build out their first class facility. Four or five U.S. military veterans are employed at Select Fire, including two who deployed to Iraq and/or Afghanistan in service of the USA. Thanks so very much for your service, gentlemen!

Select Fire offers Ladies’ Night, firearms training available only to women. Select Fire teaches three levels of concealed carry courses, preparation to obtain an Ohio License To Carry a Concealed Handgun (often called CCW), as well as three levels of tactical pistol training classes. Six NRA certified firearms trainers are on staff at the facility. Extra training is always helpful, and can never hurt, regardless of the level of shooting skills of any individual.

Select Fire’s business includes the retail sales of firearms, ammo, and accessories to shooters, hunters, outdoorsmen and sportsmen. Select Fire brings tax revenues and employment to Berea, selling and using 100% legal products, including legal firearms to fully qualified, law-abiding adults who wish to exercise their individual Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Select Fire has a Federal Firearms License, and ONLY sells firearms to adults who pass the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, due to no history of felonies, mental illness, domestic violence, drug abuse, etc., in accordance with all federal, state and local laws. Select Fire maintains a permanent record of every gun it sells, so it can be traced if necessary. Select Fire is making our community safer by training people in the safe and legal use of firearms, teaching people how to protect themselves and their families and loved ones using their own guns, and deterring criminals from doing their dirty work. Target shooting is fine recreation, as well! Additional information is available at the Select Fire website: http://www.selectfiretrainingcenter.com.

Gun ownership, and the right to keep and bear arms for self-defense is a natural individual human right preceding the U.S. Constitution. That rights is simply restated in the Second Amendment to the Constitution, according to the SCOTUS in District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008). Stores in complete compliance with all laws, such as Select Fire, may legally sell firearms to qualified adults so the law abiding citizens may exercise their natural and legal rights.

Recent history in the USA shows us that, when law-abiding citizens are armed and may carry concealed handguns, crime goes down significantly. This is because criminals do not want to get shot while committing crimes. Conversely, in areas with restrictive gun laws such as Chicago and Washington, D.C., the law-abiding citizens are unarmed but many criminals are armed and there is a very high rate of gun violence. When Select Fire trains additional law-abiding citizens how to safely and legally carry concealed handguns, they are making our entire community safer and reducing the probability of gun violence. An armed citizenry deters criminal activity and enhances civility. The horrible murder rampages dominating headlines are typically committed in Criminal Protection Zones (aka “Gun Free Zones”), areas where law-abiding citizens obey the laws and do not carry guns, making it safe for criminals to commit mass murder because there is no armed citizen available to stop the criminals.

SELECT FIRE TRAINING CENTER, WELCOME TO BEREA and congratulations on your new business. May your business grow and prosper!

P.S. I have no financial interest in Select Fire.

I litterally live 5 mins from there and never knew they existed. Been driving down to Hickory Ridge in Medina.

Been shooting at Stonewall in Broadview Heights but will have to check this place out. It would be closer I think. Do you know range fees and more specific if they offer annual membership? I like memberships over hourly fees. Anyway, thanks for the informative post. I am in Bedford Heights.

I found their website. They can be found here.

Unfortunately they just opened and....
Select Fire Training Center offers many different memberships including discounts for for EMS, Law Enforcement, Fire, Active and Retired Military

CURRENTLY ALL MEMBERSHIPS ARE SOLD OUT

We do have a waiting list. Please call to be added.

Guess I'll just pay them a visit. Their rates are about par for what I have seen in this area.

Wow! I live in Parma and also go to Stonewall on occasion. This is about the same distance. I'll have to check it out.

If nothing else, if they reduce the traffic into Stonewall, that'll make me happy.

I wish them luck. $24 per couple per hour seems a little steep to me but if it's a nice facility it may be worth it.

About how I figured it. If the place is nice and well maintained even though the rates are a little higher than for example Stonewall the added cost may be OK. Just need to check it out.
