Well after talking to a guy at work who was selling his girlfriends like new maverick 88 (mossberg 500) i went over to his house and handed him the little cash he was asking for this gem. If he would have told me it was brand new i would have believed him, its perfectly clean but he insists his g/f has put atleast 20 rounds through it. So afterwards the wife and i went to Wal-mart to pick up some munitions. 2 3/4 rifled hollow point slugs and a box of 3in MAGNUM #00 buckshot ought to preserve the peace and im gunna go get a cheap box of 100 rounds to take to the range for like $21 so now i feel a little better knowing that the 30-30 isnt my first go-to gun. The light really helps looking down barrels it is small enough to fit down my .22 so its def a keeper. Anyways here she is nothing special yet keepin her combat load 5+1 buckshot with slugs in buttstock holder and im looking at slings to get a bandolier type sling to keep loaded with 00 buck! Anyways here ya go less talk more pics!

Works for me .

I would re-think the sling bandolier & perhaps do them as seperate accessories, but now its time to put some wear on it.

yeah the current ammo storage came with the gun but its going to be replaced by either a side saddle or a sling bandolier which i would like but im not sure about yet

Needs "work polishing" to smooth things up, but the Maverick 88 will do its parts when you do yours.

My HomeLand Security Shotgun is a Maverick 88, set up just like the one in your pix. (other than my preferred buckshot load is 3" Rem #4Buck)

yeah the ammo i have currently is just some i picked up at walmart just incase i needed it. i will prolly end up using low recoil normal buckshot but last night i felt the need to get some big damaging shells to load in this sucker and im sure my wife will hate the mag load but its okay

Nice addition :)
Walmart also has Bulk packs of buckshot hidden behind the counter, 15 or 20 rds, dont remember which, its a little cheaper.

I hope his girlfriend knew about it. :D

I think you did great. I have a Mossberg 500, which has cycled with everything I put in it, In the two years I've owned it. It's one of the best values on a pump shotgun to be had, IMO.

Now, like others have said. Go make a big pile of empty shells. :)

Those 3" buckshot loads are going to kick as hard as a Missouri mule with that light alloy frame shotgun. Hold her tight against the shoulder, head down against the stock and wear some more padding than a t-shirt or you'll be black and blue after your first round.

If you want the wife to be willing to shoot it more than once you'd better get some lighter loads like 1oz target loads to start her out with making sure she does all the things mentioned before. If you black her eye and bruise her up she'll have you in the dog house for sure. Probably the reason your buddy's girl friend is selling it.

Good luck and enjoy.

no actually my buddies g/f sold it cause they never shot em, they had a his and hers set and i bought hers. My wife will deff be sending some 2 3/4 target loads down range before anything else but i atleast want her to KNOW what its capable of. I will probably get some reduced recoil low noise ammo to keep loaded in it for her and keep my big boy bullets on the stock. I got a 15round value pack of mag buck and im gunna shoot some of it but save a few rounds. My buddy gave me a choice of this maverick or an H&R (870 equivalent) but i liked the way the mossy handled better. The chamber unlock is more convenient, the pumping action is shorter, the gun is lighter, and it keeps the shell loader out of way so its easy as can be to load when the chamber is closed which was a big plus IMO. Its going to get its workout very soon it needs a sling and a small light on it but this will have to do for now.
