I'm having a lot of functioning problems with my stainless one and would have a hard time recommending it.
There is a lot to like about it. It has most of the bells and whistles of the custom 1911s - extended thumb safety, an oddly designed but effective and comfortable beavertail grip safety, night sights, frontstrap checkering - but not the full length guide rod; in fact, it takes down easily with just my fingers. It has no MIM or plastic parts in it, either. And it
appears well fitted and finished and does have a very good trigger pull and good accuracy (when it shoots). This has not translated to proper functioning, however.
I had numerous failures to feed, starting with the second shot I ever fired through it. This got better over the course of about 500 rounds, but never straightened out. I sent it back to Sigarms - on my dime - who polished the feed ramp. This did help the feeding, but shortly after this it developed a new problem - failures to
extract, resulting in double feeds. I looked at it and found the extractor hook broken off. I just sent it back to Sigarms for the second time to have them repair this. They offered to send me the parts, but I have no tools for this and it would have been a long wait at my gun shop/gunsmith, so I opted to send it back. This time they e-mailed me a prepaid shipping label, which I printed out and put on the package.
Sigarms' customer service has been good. The hold time on the phone was short and the service reps were 100% professional. It took less than a week for the gun to get back to me the first time. I just wish I didn't have to
use it.
