New Sig P226 e2

I've made up my mind to diversify beyond the 1911 .45 and go with a Sig P226 e2 in 9mm. Reasons? Well it was time for something new in 9mm. I had a G19 and it was fine but it never grew on me and stayed in the safe while the 1911 got carried to the range all the time.

After gripping a traditional vs e2 grip at the LGS I knew the smaller stocks fit my hand better. Also the SA/DA is going to take some practice in getting used to.

I'm set to pick it up later in the week and am quite excited about adding a new member to the pack. What words of wisdom can you give a mostly 1911 shooter going to a P226.

Did your Sig 226 come with SRT (short reset trigger)? If not the trigger pull in SA may be a little long. You may want to put in a SRT if your Sig doesn't come with it.
The parts are cheap and you can get it in a kit. If you are concerned about the warranty you may want to have a Sig armorer put it in.

+1 for the srt. It made a big differnce. Congrats. Sig's are a disease! It starts out with one. Then they multiply.

I picked up a P-229E2 with the short reset trigger a cuple of years ago. Having owned a P-226 when they first came out I really liked the changes made with the newer grip style and the improved trigger.

The short reset trigger makes all the difference. As a 1911 guy I couldn't get past the long mushy trigger pull (compared to my STIs) on the Sig I had a couple of year ago. Ended up trading it in on another 1911. My son has a new Sig 226 with the SRT and it's like shooting a different pistol compared to the one I had. I'm afraid I'm going to have to get me one!

Take the time to learn to shot the DA first shot...in other words, don't just shoot it in SA...and you'll be surprised how easy it is to be just as accurate and quick as SA, well pass 15 yards. Don't be lead to believe that you have to shift your trigger finger between the first and second trigger press.

I haven't found the SRT to make a huge difference until I'm shooting at a speed in excess of 4 rounds a second, but coming from a 1911, you might like it
