I've been thinking about one of these since they first came out, I had a chance to try out a friends full size with standard sights and decided to go ahead. It's the Sig P320 RX, suppressor height night sights and the Romeo red dot.

We're having a bit of weather this weekend so probably be next week before I get to try it at the range.

You sir are the Master of Understatement!

Hope you weather the storm okay and that you get a chance to test out that SIG real soon.

come on dude... People were surfing at Surfside... :) last I checked we dont melt...

Stay safe brother...

Houston is a bit peripheral to what's going on in Corpus.

Indoor range handy?

Yeah they canceled the Gun Show at NRG today too. I consider it a minor miracle we still have power.

I've had my P320-RX out three times since I got it a few weeks ago and I really like it. Put about 500 rounds through it with various ammo and had zero issues. The red dot was not adjusted at the factory and mine was way off, when I zeroed it, the irons seemed a good match but I can't focus on the front sight well enough to say it really "co-witnesses". The O-ring on the battery cover is really tight. The manual warns about not over-tightening the battery cover, but that O-ring is so tight initially I had to tighten, back-off, and re-tighten three or four times to get it tight enough to make good electrical contact. Handy little tool they provide for cover removal/replacement and zero adjustments is a nice little extra. Too bad spare mags are so expensive, but thankfully not HK expensive.

But don't drop it with a round in the chamber. I've registered to send mine back for the "voluntary" recall.

If you've done the on-line warranty registration you'll likely get an Email about it soon.

As to the "Master of Understatement" the media keeps comparing this storm to Allison which dumped ~25" in like 30 hours, this is expected to drop that much rain, but over a four or five day period -- big difference! Haven't seen or heard much about how bad it was where it came ashore, but when I went to bed two hours after landfall a live news report from Corpus Cristi buildings and street lights in the background still had power which is a good sign, although they were on the "clean side" of the storm.

I'd wait before buying a P320 until they have sorted out the trigger safety problem.

Oops, just reread your post. Already bought, so nevermind.

The weather really isn't much here, but everyone decided yesterday to close for the weekend due to the predictions. I've played golf in worse before.

Our ever less "professional" media continues to lower the bar at every turn. The media no longer has enough collective experience to even know what it's talking about.
This was a "brown water" storm, what used to be called and "insohore" or "littoral" storm. The war, shallow water helped fuel convection to create the storm, but it never had the deep, cold ocean nearby to really couple the heat engine to; so it had almost no momentum built up. The reports of it being "category four" were entirely based on just a few buoys, and not of any measurements of sustained eyewall windspeeds.
None of which were helped by the fact that it's been two years since a named storm made landfall on CONUS, and six years since one hit Texas.

Turns out, people panicked by Houston media drove demand up for taprs and plywood that a cople big boxe stores transfered material from Corpus and Victoria so it could be sold in Houston.

Mind, Harvey was blamed for the rain today at the Fort Worth Gun show--despite it being from a low pressure trough along the Red River (said structure being part of the reason Harvey did not hit Houston).

Just an update, we've had a number of very small (F0/F1) tornados here on the NW side of town, and it's raining too hard to golf now.

We are getting some heavy rain at the moment, local news is showing streets with "six inches of water covering them", they damn well should know that Houston streets are a large part of the storm drainage system for heavy rains. This happens any time a strong rain storm comes through.

The places that usually flood are in for a very rough time, for sure. You mentioning the basically unnecessary demand in Houston pulling supplies from areas that really needed them brings to mind another peeve with the local news media. The big threat here is flooding so what are they telling everyone to do Thursday night and Friday Morning -- fill up your gas tank! It gonna flood the streets and you can't drive anywhere, but make sure you have a full tank of gas.!

To keep it gun related, our club is in a flood plain, odds are it will be closed all next week at least :(
