This thread came up yesterday and I was able to help another member out with a pretty tough question;
Unknown set of grips. Any ideas? | The High Road
Don't want to take all the credit though as the new book from Rick Landers & Ian Skennerton helped me narrow down my guess quickly. The book is "British and Commonwealth Signal Pistols". It is very well done and covers several American models as well since the Allies made use of them also. The AN M8 which were the grips in question last night is well documented in the book (and I have one which also helped with the question).
Resources on flare or signal pistols are very hard to find! So, this is an excellent addition to your library if you're interested in them, want to know more about ones you may have/want, or are a military history buff looking to shine some light on a space which gets written about little. It helped me clear up the mystery of a few I have and taught me a great deal. Well worth picking up a copy.
