I had a few handguns to test out, either new-to-me, or did-I fix-it? I haven't been feeling that well lately, but decided to at least test a few out this morning.
I was very pleased with the new-to-me Astra A-100. It's extremely similar to the Sig 229. Mine is 45acp. I got it for $250 plus shipping and FFL. It's in good condition: some surface wear, but the insides seem to have almost no wear.
It's different than the P229 internally a little bit. The magazine is a heel release. The take-down lever is on the opposite side. Shooting it feels pretty much the same. The DA trigger is pretty good. The SA trigger is excellent. I barely noticed the recoil.
My accuracy today was terrible. I tired quickly and my hands were shaky. I brought six handguns. I shot my excellent S&W Model 28 the best. The Astra was second. After that were a nice 1911, a nice Kahr 40 caliber, and a S&W 38 snub. The tiny 25acp was all over the place.
I felt like the Astra was a very good handgun for the price. Its trigger is every bit as good as my P229, plus it has an all-steel frame. It will probably be one of my favorite 45acp range pistols, and it sure wouldn't be bad for HD, either.
