New Uberti 1873 Hunter short rifle in .44Mag

Those half octagon barrels I think are very nice looking. My brother has a case hardened one in 357 and it’s gorgeous!

I too, am curious about the toggle dealing with the thrust. I have a 45 Colt and I’ll push the pressures a bit but I’ll be watching people’s use of the 44Mag and if they hold up to a steady diet of 44Mag that will alleviate some of my concerns for my 45 Colt.

Yeah I would ditch the rail as well. I’m not opposed to bringing levers in to 2024 in as far as rails, mlok, etc but wouldn’t combine that with blued, half octagon and nice wood.

A profiled lever would be nice although they would have to move their lever lock location, but NBD.

Might be a pre-production example. We know they make them.

I'd love to know what htey had to do to get the toggle link action to stand up to .44Mag backthrust.

Me, too. Better steel than in 19th century, of course, but have they beefed up the machinery?
Hey, it only has to hold together for one overload to get out of the proof house in one piece.

Very fine looking rifle.

I also could do without the rail, mainly because it takes away from the clean lines and historical perspective of this classic lever action.

There's tons of more traditional options already readily available. The rail allows it to function as a relatively capable hunting rifle with an optic, which is a new concept for the `73.
