New vs old

Humpf ! We had a '67 Buick Wildcat with 4-barrel carb on a 430 CID engine and, one time on a country road, I had the needle pegged at 120 and the pedal was only 3/4 of the way down. Granted, we only got about 8 mpg but I don't think there are many cars today that could equal that car w/o a turbo or supercharger.

Ya got me JT...they’re only 98% more powerful! I wasn’t expectin’ no one ta run the numbers! :D

I prefer the “pre-lawyer” versions of guns. 3 screw Ruger single actions. Pre safety Marlins. Pre trigger lock Smiths. They were good for many years when people had common (gun) sense. Then lawyers got involved.

And I have about a half dozen .22s from before 1950. I’ve made the challenge to friends before to find a new rifle, at a similar price point, that will shoot as well. There’s just something about old .22s, they just shoot.

Those old 22s sure do shoot. Probably because the bore has been polished by thousands of rounds.
