Has anyone fondled one of the new ones yet? I have an older one that I bought to give to my son and have been looking for another one to give to son #2. I must say I am a little peeved that they are now in production again.

The original Mark XXII's were a thing of beauty and craftmanship, hopefully those standards are still up to par with these new one's, plus they are offering it in .17HMR to boot:D.

Someone else wrote that it looks like an Anschutz in a Weatherby stock.

I'm not sure if that's true, but that would speak well for it in my book, on both counts.

Thanks for the reply, when I did my search your earlier thread didn't come up for some reason. I love the old Italian one I have and it shoots great, has vintage Weatherby optics on it.

If I were to buy a new one it would be in .17HMR from a collectable standpoint. I think the reintroduction might drive the used prices down some too.

Anschutz action and barrel.

"Weatherby Mark XXII
The best new Weatherby in years, this distinctive rimfire bolt-action is a joint venture between Weatherby and Anschutz, which is long-noted for its world-beating .22 target rifles. Weatherby has very wisely retained its distinctive stock, which is full adult size, and not scaled down for kids and smaller life forms. I’ve shot a Mark XXII at some length, and it’s a terrific rifle" - some magazine review I googled up

I thought the Weatherby XXII was an autoloader, not a bolt.
