My wife has a permit. Brand new, she just picked it up yesterday.

It took 109 dollars, 4 references, 5 months and one week, three trips to the sheriff's office for fingerprints, two trips for the reference forms, one trip to apply for and one trip to pick up the permit.

HOWEVER.....

She still does not have an ACTUAL permit to ACTUALLY keep an ACTUAL pistol in her very own home. It is sort of an abstract permit.

When she went to pick up the permit she brought with her a list of two handguns she already owns that are stored in an out of state gun store. The information was taken and she was told it would have to go before a judge who would (possibly) sign amendments to her permit for these pistols. She asked if those would be mailed to her.

"Oh no, you have to come in to pick them up."

You probably could have told them sooner about the guns. During my interview I told the officer that I already had guns stored at a local gun shop. He told me to get a letter from the shop with the serial numbers and stating that the guns were mine. When I got my license, it had my four guns on it.

What was really strange was that I received a strange "release" form to pick up the guns. Normally you have to get the guns inspected, but I didn't need to. I just picked up the guns, went home and that was it.

No consistency at all....dumb state.

+1 to that, if you had declared them with the initial application, there would be no need for amendments, they would have been on your permit from jump.

my amendments are mailed to me..

I might be able to use that info. My permit is still pending. I'll be risking restarting the sheriff's clock but I can mention it to them.

I'm a native newyorker, I moved & you can too.

Man I am so glad I don't have to put up with that bovine excrement!
I allways ccw , I allways have a gun in my car.
I just bought an AR15 & took it home from the gun show, along with a case of .223 & a bunch of mags.
I can walk out of gun shop with any rifle or pistol I can afford (except for the machine guns).
I will never live in NY untill we overturn all those idiotic gun laws.
