Good belts are very important. I purchased most of mine from Ted Blocker.
Some 1 1/2 inch, some 1 1/4 inch. Belt loops on jeans will usually take the 1 1/2 inch
belts. Most of my slacks will only accept the 1 1/4 inch belts.

And you do want the belt height to be the right size for the holster slots.

One thing that I got from Ted Blocker was belts with seven holes on 3/4 inch centers
rather than five holes on one inch centers. Makes it easier to tune the fit.
When I bought a set up from Kramer, I had him do the seven holes rather than
the five holes.

These days it's mostly a 442 in a Kramer pocket holster.

Never trust a man who wears a belt and suspenders. .A friends grandpa.

+1 belt
+1 IWB
+1 good holster

I am 6'1 about 230 and carry a Ruger P90 in a DA3 IWB from Ted Blocker Leather. When I picked up the holster I was so impressed that I bought a belt from them at the same time.

This was one of the main reasons I went with a Wilderness belt...very fine adjustments to make sure the belt fits perfectly every time.

Well that, and I'm a heathen, I carry an SA 4" Lightweight 1911 in an OWB G-Code Kydex paddle rig...can't get much more offensive to general gunny sensibilities or much more blasphemous than that.

Friend on another on-line forum: "Are you serious? You carry a 1911, but it's chopped to 4 inches and has an alloy frame, and it rides in a holster NOT made of leather, OUTSIDE of your waistband? Did you purposely take nearly every common selection criteria for a 1911 and a carry method and do the exact opposite or is this just blind luck?"

"I dunno, I didn't really think about what you purist old-timers do with your guns, I just went for the lightest, most concealable and reliable 1911 that I could find and put it into the most comfortable and fastest holster system I know of. But wait, I also carry all of this on a Wilderness SYNTHETIC belt. :neener: "

Friend: ""

I bought gun belts from Dillion and holsters from Milt Sparks and Blade-Tech. You have to wait a bit for the later but they've worked for me.

I've bought Galco mag pouches also.

Here's my formula:

Undershirt - cotton works best for keeping the rig in place, but a synthetic (like a Russel, nike, or Under Armor) works best for keeping me cool.

Holster - Leather - I have come to despise Kydex (except for mag pouches). Milt Sparks Summer Special II is the only way to go. Get 1.5" loops. Their VersaMax II gets honorary mention.

Belt - Wilderness Instructors Belt (5-Stitch / 1.5" width). You owe it to yourself to try one. They are around $40. I have a fancy Sparks belt, and I have a nice belt from Wild Bill's but those just sit on the rack. You can fine tune the fit to your carry rig by looseneing it or cinching it up to any position. www.thewilderness.com

Rafter S

I cannot recommend Rafter S's belts enough. Not only are they beautifully finished, but are built like a brick house. Their lined belt is 3/16" thick. You can get them eaxctly sized to your sepecifications and at $48 for cowhide they are an absolute BARGAIN. I don't expect my belt to ever wear out, but if it does, I will be calling Steve at Rafter S.
