I'd give it a good cleaning and compliment it with a set of Check Weights.

That's a great scale and you got a super deal. I don't believe you could get the scale pan alone for $20 these days. I agree check weights are a must to verify accuracy and repeatability. That'll last you a lifetime.
Good scale. Hint; I have a scale sitting on a small table on my bench to raise it, closer to eye level during reloading. I also have my powder measure on the table. I don't have to put the scale and table away so I just invert a plastic shoe box over the scale for protection and to keep it clean.

Simply amazing sir! That quick! I “assume” the basic maintenance and cleaning rules apply? Nothing special, just check that the agate is in good shape, no chips or cracks, and the knives are similarly not damaged.
A balance like this will last generations, with good care.

On mine the low side is off by 0.2gr at 5gr and the high side is dead on all the way across.
That is the same D7 scale Lyman featured in the 45th. Also featured and used by youtuber gunblue490.
I wound up settling for a D5 after getting outbid on several of the D7's. One crispy like new one in the box sold for over $100. But that was nearly 2 years ago. Things have eased up a bit since then.

measure a bunch of check waits, bullets, and anything you can find that is close to a charge you might weigh. scale looks good to me, but sometimes they take some tinkering to calibrate them a bit. I also have a cheap digital scale to sanity check the scales against one another when reloading. as you dip into reloading further, you'll start to become more concerned with how well any measuring tool works, and how to know.
