A neighbour of ours has been having Problems with Feral goats .Due to bad exp's with private shooters he dose not let anyone hunt his property. He has approched me several times to cuul out his Goat infestation. Each time I have declined the offer of this emplyment .as his land has been compared with the Nth face of Everist!!!!!!.Now there comes a time in every mans life that he has to resurt to "Dirty Pool" yesterday was his day :cuss: .Yep he came and asked my Wife to send me to dispatch said Stinkies. I still had a card up my sleeve .$ 2.00 a goat I told him !Much to my horror he accepted (almost tearfully I might add) Well bright & early I'm getting ready for work & my11yr old stepson asks if he can come for a shot?
He's using a .310 cadet with iron sights . He is a amerture .He is 11 .I do this for a living I am usinga 25-303 that I have used scince I was about 15& I'm a damn site older than that now! end of the Hunt his dropped 17 to my 8 :what: :banghead: He was up and down hills like a wild fire .As for me I just potted along the gullies and dry creek beds .But! do you my Peers think I'll ever live this down I dont think so .Please some words of condolense would be nice

Over the .Years I have shot from Rabbits to Water Buff for a living I have seen the industry change from pet food to Human consumption (& have had to do health courses for the preperation of Game .Prroved that I was acompetent shot .Studied the effects of bullet wounds .I even had to do a course on reloading .Which made us all laugh cause we were all long time pro shooters from the bush & we'd been reloading & shooting since we were kids & we had a Kid theaching us who admited that he'd never been out of the city .Let alone shot a animal :what: )
In answer to yur Questio yes & it looks like If my Wife has her way I'll be going out to the edge of the Simpson desert .Shooting Cammels again vey shortly My weapon of choice for this work is a .303 due to mag cap ,or I don't feel under guned with my .243 with 100gn pills .Also like the American express card (don't leave home without it :D ) My marlin 45-70.

The Camel hunts sound really interesting to me. What do you do with the Camels? Do people eat them or are they left for the local scavengers? Are camels hard to hunt?

Sturm Camels these days are taken for bothPet food & human consumption. They are also Mustersed for live export. They are also considered a Game animal by a lot of hunters. They are not hard to put down .On saying this I would not go below a 243with 100gn pills & then I'd be looking at neck shots at about 100yds.I always favored the .303 brit due to mag cap (remembering I was out to make an income not to be ethical).I also enjoied sucess with a .308 win .A lot of guys used 270s.With a lot of 30-06s.My all time fav cals for camels would have to be the 45-70 or 375H&H.when on foot .A fellow shooter swore by his 458win mag until he dicovered the .460w mag.I think that a first time or casual hunter could'nt do much wrong with a .338 + :)
