Newtown, CT shooting is a game-changer...

Armed guard or officer in every school may be a good idea, but is going to get expensive. how about airport metal detectors at all entry points of every school? usually every school has one or two main entry doors, monitored by a secratary! If the detector goes off. Press a panick button to summon police? Obviosly there will have to be a sign posted not to wear or possess any metal objects entering the schoo. But wouldn't it be much cheaper than paying security or a cop? Just an idea!

Only other thing I agree with the OP on is body armor! Don't sell it to the public, only police and security should have access to body armor! Completely illogical in any defensive situation for any citizen!

Rest of it can't say I agree with at all!

"Allow Principals, and school faculty who have passed rigorous background checks, and have conceal carry permits"

School employees already go through background checks. I work as a substitute custodian when I'm laid off from electrical work so I know. Actually, the background check is more "rigorous" than what I go through to work in a nuclear power plant. I'm sure that there is at least one full-time school employee here who will testify to this.

Might want to re-think that.

When I owned a gun shop I wore body armor daily, for 3 years.

I continue to wear body armor on occasion when going to high risk areas at bad times. (One of my datacenters is in a really bad part of town, and it takes the security gate a while to open...)

I also wear body armor while stalking game in case Bubba goes Bush Busting.

Lets ban murder. Problem solved. Seriously, only a fool would think banning guns can keep bad people from killing innocent people.

America is a violent country in decay. This incident, along with others, are the final death throws before a once great nation bleeds out.

There are many, many reasons for why we have fallen. The fact that we need to make public schools the equivalent of hardened bunkers is a symptom. None of this has anything to do with guns.

Ban the sale of assault weapons, body armor and hi capacity magazines, and at the same time, allow concealed carry in more places? I'm confused.

You're an NRA member? I bet you donate to the Brady campaign too. It would make about as much sense as banning some and allowing more of others.

Trent- I understand certain situations, and certain people in high risk jobs to have body armor, maybe out in the woods with bubba as well! But how about having a backround check if you want to possess it?? Just a thought?

I sincerely hope that you don't think regulation of something is going to get it off the streets, or out of the hands of criminals. Haven't we already debunked that myth? 100 times?

But doing so won't bring even one of those little children back. And there is good reason to doubt whether doing so would prevent future, tragic events.

...I'll take the OP's word that he is a husband, father, and gun owner. But NOTHING he posted indicates he's the slightest bit conservative or a proponent of gun rights....
And the issue here isn't the OP's credentials as a conservative or proponent of gun rights.

In the aftermath of the horrific, tragic events in Connecticut, we are seeing all types of people struggle to make some sense of something that really can't be made sense of. We're seeing people making desperate attempts to understand and find solutions -- solutions that might not even exist.

We're all seeking answers, but I don't see anything positive coming out of this thread, so it's closed.
