Well after much thought I decided I need a centerfire rifle smaller than my .30-06. While many people suggested a .22, I decided I want something bigger. I don't have the money for a high-end AR15 and I want something more accurate than a cheap AK47. I was considering a kel-tec SU16 rifle or mabye a m1 carbine. What reasonably priced gun do you suggest? I haven't found much on the m1 carbine, is it any good?

So you're talking the $500 range?

I would go with an SU16C or CA. Shorter, heavier (I think, not sure) barrel and better sights than the A model. 18.5" vs. 16" barrels. There are some pretty nicely done-up SU16s around the forum.

OR...get an SKS, get a proper bedding job, and maybe stick a scout scope on it.

Spend $500 or so on the Yugo M70 AK. Or find a MAK 90 for about the same.
They aren't cheap and they are definitely accurate. My ARs are starting to gather dust because of those two guns. Lots of places I go and things I do are not conducive to a $1000 plus gun. Not that the guns couldn't handle it, I just don't want to mess them up. The AKs are perfect for that type of use.
