I'm doing another Heavy Barrel Savage project.

The base rifle is a Model 12 BVSS in .22-250, and I plan to get barrels for it in .22 BR and .260 from Pac-Nor. (I've had some wonderful 6mm BR barrels for a LRPV from them.)

So the rifle will be used as a target/varmint rifle. If all goes like the previous swap-barrel Savage projects, I'm working toward a 1/4 MOA gun.

I've gotten an EGW 20 HD MOA Picatinny base.

For the scope, I'm thinking of splurging on a NightForce Benchrest 12-42x56mm .125 MOA with the NP-R2 reticle over the NP-2DD reticle.

Anybody have any feedback on the NightForce Benchrest? It seems like a decent target/varmint scope.

The NP2-DD might be better for the occasional local BR match. But the NP-R2 seems better for ranging or prairie dogs. I can't find this scope with a NP-R1...which sounds like the ideal reticle.

I've never had a NF Scopes. I don't need the heavy duty NXS construction. Is this entry-level NF Scope worth it?

I'm at that point in life where reading glasses are a reality. Will these adjust a bit to shoot without reading glasses? (Yeah, I know...but I've done that for decades.)

I had one with the 2dd reticle. It was pretty awesome

I got it to shoot fclass. It worked great for that but I never shoot fclass. I need a second focal plane scope for everything I do so I don't have a rifle if want to put it on
