I was looking at some really nice unfired Colt revolvers over the weekend. All in the original box with all papers. Pristine condition. Just wondering if my valuations were reasonable:

The first was a blued 4" Python .357mag. Again, unfired, pristine, in the original box. Given what I see Pythons selling for nowadays, I was thinking this example could fetch at least $2,000. There's one listed on Gunbroker now for $4,695.

The second, and most valuable, methinks, was a blued 8" .38 Python Target revolver. Given it's rarity, and condition, I'm thinking $3,000. Could it be more? Less?

Finally, a blued Diamondback .38. Pretty sure it was a 6". Pristine, unfired, in the box with papers. This was the toughest value to guess, and was thinking just under the Python at $1,500, but I now see nice examples online for considerably more. Thoughts?

I would think you could start by adding $1000 to each of your valuations and go from there.

Thanks, folks. Not being much of a collector, I could take my WAG, but thought I ought to ask here. The guns are part of a friend's estate, and will be professionally appraised, but I was curious to hear more informed opinions as to their general value.

NIB Colts have gone into insane wacko territory on the collector market, which is probably where they belong. I've collected Colts for years but almost all of mine are the more mundane and affordable "shooter grade".
