I am a bit excited! My second 1911 is on the way. I read up quite a bit and decided on getting the more plain jane stainless steel 5 inch barreled Remington R1S 45 acp 1911 for home defense and target practice. Seems to be quite well made for the money. Hard to find any negative comments on it.
I have a Colt Defender for carry and I am duplicating the grips I have on it with the R1S.
I don't shoot 45 auto a whole lot but plan to do some range practice with the larger one. That may help me improve a little on the shorter Defender.
The grips I have on the defender have held up well carrying around and they took a few light whacks and still look like new. They are quite rough and leave honeycomb impressions on my hand but still are not at all uncomfortable.
No way I'll have any problem hanging onto the pistols with these.
This is a stock image ( not mine )
