It seems that the father of the beheaded US citizen, Nick Berg, was a signatory on "International A.N.S.W.E.R.'s "Call to Action to end colonial occupation from Iraq to Palestine" on March 20, 2004.

Here is the link to the Free Republic thread.

The signature list for the International A.N.S.W.E.R. petition is provided in the link at Free Republic. Michael S. Berg's signature is highlighted about halfway down the page. It makes me wonder why Nick was really there. Perhaps he was following the lead of the three anti-war Japanese that appeared to volunteer to be "captured" so the terrorists could force Japan to withdraw their forces from Iraq. I don't know for sure, but it just smells fishy to me.

On their web site International A.N.S.W.E.R. has a paper on the resistance in Iraq that states that the Iraquis had 45 years of freedom before the US and British coalition occupied their country. International A.N.S.W.E.R. is a front group for the World Workers Party, a Stalinist organization. It should be no surprise that International A.N.S.W.E.R. would think that Saddam was just nifty.

It appears to me that the young man went there to get work and make some of that great money thats availible to contractors in Iraq.
What is questionable, and we may get more details soon, is how he got into the country, and what he did, who he met with, while he was there. The media has reported the fact that the Iraqi police picked him up and the US military held him for a couple of weeks. This makes me wonder if he snuck in illegally, and he probably did, given that he was there as a FREE-lance contractor. Who did he meet with in his quest for work???.

Was he excersizing any common sense, like carrying a weapon to protect himself in a dangerous environment? Was he staying in a secure location like a hotel with actual security to protect foreigners?

Did he have any real business contacts there or was he just walking around looking lost, and asking the wrong folks for a contract.

My guess is that he went willingly with his captors after they promissed him a lucrative contract (ala Daniel Pearl going to an interview to get a scoop) In any event its ashame he's dead, but maybe he should not have been there doing his own thing in the first place.???

Everyone should be aware that ANSWER is a thoroughly communist organization.

They have supported brutal dictators around the world and their only mission is the destruction of America.

International ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) is a front group for the communist Workers World Party. The Workers World Party is, literally, a Stalinist organization. It rose out of a split within the old Socialist Workers Party over the Soviet Union's 1956 invasion of Hungary -- the breakaway Workers World Party was all for the invasion. International ANSWER today unquestioningly supports any despotic regime that lays any claim to socialism, or simply to anti-Americanism. It supported the butchers of Beijing after the slaughter of Tiananmen Square. It supports Saddam Hussein and his Baathist torture-state. It supports the last official Stalinist state, North Korea, in the mass starvation of its citizens. It supported Slobodan Milosevic after the massacre at Srebrenica. It supports the mullahs of Iran, and the narco-gangsters of Colombia and the bus-bombers of Hamas.

This is whom the left now marches with. The left marches with the Stalinists. The left marches with those who would maintain in power the leading oppressors of humanity in the world. It marches with, stands with and cheers on people like the speaker at the Washington rally who declared that "the real terrorists have always been the United Snakes of America." It marches with people like the former Black Panther Charles Baron, who said in Washington, "if you're looking for an axis of evil then look in the belly of this beast."

"There may have been a lot of things that he was not, but he was still an American citizen," Kimmitt said.

I abhor communism and socialism, but even if Michael Moore, who I loathe above all others, had met the fate that Berg did, I would be up in arms because of the above quote. You are quite correct though, Dr. Jones. There seems to be no shortage of communist organizations. I would put "move on" in that same category. People forget the dangers of communism and the fact that we have communist organizations in our country. Frightening, really.

1) All of those leftist organizations are the same. They all attend the same rallys and events and they all support each other and they all hate America.

2) What is even worse than people forgetting/underestimating the grave threat that communists pose to America is the fact that there are so many who very mistakenly think that communism is dead.

Amen, Dr Jones and amen again. Don't read any more into this than there is. He was an industrious young man who was trying to make a living and do good at the same time. What was done to him was the most horrible thing that I've seen recently. These are some scary sumbitches, scary.

Well, the thing that really gets me is imagine it was a friend of yours. Maybe your father, mother, sister, brother, son, or daughter. If it was my best friend, what would I do then? What could I do? Noone deserves the end this man received.

...but even if Michael Moore, who I loathe above all others, had met the fate that Berg did...
If it WERE Michael Moore, the captors would have exhausted themselves trying to cut the whole way through.

I WOULD HOPE

That the outrage is truly because he was an American regardless of his beliefs. Even if there to raise money for terrorists he died because he was an American, I'd have the same outrage if it had been Sean Penn.

"His father, Michael Berg, said he blamed the U.S. government for creating circumstances that led to his son's death. He said if his son had not been detained for so long, he might have been able to leave the country before the violence worsened."

"I think a lot of people are fed up with the lack of civil rights this thing has caused," he said. "I don't think this administration is committed to democracy."

Interesting....

I have seen some statements that Nick was conservative and a Bush supporter that have been attributed to his very left-wing dad. Anyone know if it is true?

I am also saddened that this happened to Nick no matter what his beliefs. It should be a reminder to everyone about what kind of world we will live in if these animals win.

I'm not concerned with anything Michael Berg says. Anyone who has gone through what he just has gets a free pass in my book. However he needs to deal with this, he should just do it. If blaming Bush and America and everyone on earth eases his pain, go for it.

It's amazing that this poor father watched as radical islamists cut his son's head off and he can still find a way to distort his world view to "blame Bush."

Moussoui Connection now!

Seems that Nick Berg somehow let Moussoui use his computer and "somehow" Moussoui had his e-mail password. What are the odds that it is just coincidence?

Sounding fishier all the time.

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the same as the three Japanese "prisoners" who volunteered to be held prisoner to force Japan to pull its troops out of Iraq or the human shields who went to Iraq before the war.

And his father said something to the effect of "they didn't know who they were killing, Nick was the best friend they had".

Oh c'mon now. Hasn't everyone here had their password given to an international terrorist at some point?

First Daniel Pearl, now Nick Berg. I wonder what it is that makes some Jewish people want to go wandering around in an Islamic hotbed. It's reminds me of the two nature lovers in Alaska (from California) who decided that they would go live with the brown bears as friends rather than hunters but wound up as piles of bear dung scattered around the campsite.

quote:

And his father said something to the effect of "they didn't know who they were killing, Nick was the best friend they had".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Full context:
"The al-Qaeda that killed my son didn't know what they were doing," Berg's father, Michael, told CNN Thursday. "They killed their best friend. Nick was there to build Iraq, not to tear it down. He was there to help people, not to hurt anyone."
Your copy and paste skills go unparalleled. The context is well known and it is still curious.

Yeah, because the killers' video production skills were not Lord of the Rings quality, it apparently means that the tape was doctored, bringing into question whether it was actually US operatives dressed as Muslim radicals rather than the real deal. Must be that Nick Berg really isn't dead. His head is being held in a life support system incommunicado at Abu Ghraib prison. These people are sick.
