Nickel SAA question

On the early nickel finish SAA's (1st generation), were the screws in the frame and the trigger nickel as well? I have seen some blue screws and trigger and wondered if it was a refinish, or original. Thanks, Lee

Yes and no.....

Colt offered them both ways, but I think most had nickeled screws.

I'm far from an expert on early Colts, but:
Here are two orginial finish ones with blued screws and base pin.

However, R.L. Wilsons Colt book shows some engraved factory finish guns with nickled screws too.

But I think most plain nickle guns had fire blued screws & base pin.

Most were all nickel but you could order it either way.
