Nickel-Teflon Refinish for XD-9 from Springfield Custom Shop

Should I spend the money to get a Nickel-Teflon finish for my XD-9 Ported?

I have a 4 inch Springfield XD-9 in OD Green (Ported) made before 2006, so it only has a blued finish. Springfield Custom Shop offers a refinishing service which would give it a Nickel Teflon finish on all metal parts of the gun for $175. My question is, would it be worth the money to get this finish on my XD-9?

Depends on what you like your gun to look like. It would be a durable and good finish. Black-T would also be a good choice (had it done to the frame of my 1911 via the Custom Shop, but they outsource most, if not all, of their refinishing).

Personally, I'd probably only worry about having the slide refinished- seems that the wear I have heard about with the XD doesn't affect internals, just the slide.

Sure...

If you want to do it, go ahead!
If it makes you feel better about the finish it may be worth it.
I don't like the bi-tone look, so unless they could nickle the polymer I probably wouldn't do it to my gun. I'm weird though, I like either stainless/chrome/nickle or all black. I don't like wood grips either. But... if somone was to offer me a bi-tone gun with wood grips... I'd take it :neener: ~Nathan
