When I picked up a S&W revolver from a Gun Broker Auction transfer last week the FFL holder told me he had heard the people taking the initial NICS call were working at home and if it was a simple no problem check granted an approval number. If they had any questions the call was transferred to West Virginia. Anyone have information on on this? Nothing wrong with working from home as long as it is done correctly. What brought this about is for the past couple years EVERY time make a purchase requiring a NICS check it goes to "further review" but clears in about 2 minutes. Except once on a Saturday about three years ago where I was delayed for about four hours. I was once told by a dealer that I was in the system twice and that is what is throwing them.

LubeckTech .....the FFL holder told me he had heard the people taking the initial NICS call were working at home
Your dealer needs a better source for gossip :D
FBI NICS has three contracted call centers around the country. When the CSR forwards a transaction for further review it goes to the NICS Examiner in Clarkburg.

Bubbles NICS Examiners all work out of the FBI's Clarksburg, WV call center. They do not work from home. During the "banic" you could hear other examiners talking in the background during calls.
This.
