So I go into my LGS to drop off my .44 Marlin for a little work (long story) and the guys there know me too well. Wordlessly, one of them approaches and silently slips a matte black 1911 into my right hand. Hmm, what’s this? Oh, a Nighthawk. Looks like a brand-new Nighthawk. Ok. Single stack, Government-length, plain-jane, the way I like them. All black nitride finish. Nice ball-radius cuts on the slide. Flat-faced aluminum trigger with about a 2.5lb pull. Aggressive, classic slide serrations. I think it’s a 9 so I glance at the caliber marking. Nope, 10mm. Intriguing; I’d never seen a 10mm Nighthawk. Price? Very reasonable for this pistol.

I ask, what’s the story? Friend of one of the staff members ordered this two years ago in 10mm. NHC made it for him as it’s not a standard chambering for this model. Customer never shot it then came in today and put it up for consignment. Staff member says the owner might even be open to offers as he wants it gone quick. Wow. Very intrigued now. I love the 10mm and only have one - a gen 5 Glock 20. I have a pet handload of a 200 grain JHP at 1100 fps that’ll do pretty much anything I need to do with a handgun.

What say you gents? It’s not cheap but a very, very good deal compared to a new one. It’s LNIB. It would probably blow my plans to pick up a high-end 2011 for a while BUT… it’s realllly nice. Can anyone comment on the accuracy of the 10mm Nighthawks? Also durability? My impression is that 10mm is hard on 1911s.

Thanks!

So how much did they want for it! trying to figure the used NH market

The LGS wants $3600 for it. New, the Shadowhawk is around $4600 but 10mm is a special order and is undoubtedly higher. The owner of the LGS knows me well though and said if I reached out to the current pistol owner directly, I could probably get it for $3k. That’s why I love this LGS, the owner would overlook his 15% commission for me.

under $3 would be good! probably $28 were the sweet spot is for used high end

True, but my comment was based on the OP’s statement:

Ok, but I think you misread the post.
Store owner told OP that the current owner of the pistol might take 3k. Not a staff member. OP isn't negotiating with the LGS.
Doesn't really matter though, I hope if the OP buys it he gets it for a price he's happy with.

I hope the OP gets that 10mm Night Hawk.

There is a Las Bear 10mm Premiere 2 unfired, on consignment, but the owner wants $4000! I laughed so HARD

Thanks guys! Sorry for the confusion I created. The owner of the gun might take $3k (maybe less?). The store owner likes me and doesn’t care if I negotiate a private sale with the gun owner, even though he’d be cut out of his commission. The LGS also has a new Les Baer Premier II in 10mm for $3k. Hmmm.

that what I told the Shop! LB P2 10mm is around $3000.

That’ll come with the gun, though the test target on Nighthawks doesn’t say much. They’re always a one-hole group at 12 yards :). I’m more interested in field reports from owners.
and bench rested too. We get it. It goes in the same hole. That why I like Standing at 10-15 yards groupings

I paid $3k for it and I am way happy about that. They used to offer 10mm as a $100 option on these guns but no more. This one’s “standard” with an ambi safety, one piece mainspring housing and magwell ( which I adore, BTW. Funny how a small thing can totally transform the pistol), Heinie “straight eight” night sights, and DLC finish. I think this is a $4600 gun at full list price. Test target of course is a one-holer. Came with an extra mag. I’ll shoot it Wednesday morning. Hopefully it’ll shoot like my NHC Combat Special! I shot this 25 yard group with the .45 this morning:

Note- it’s not me, it’s the pistol. Seriously.

25 yards off hand is a LONG shot! I don’t know how you guys see that far!

15 yards is my max indoor and it a strain on my eyes. but I do have these new Coke Bottle glasses, I should try shooting with them.

Beautiful Gun! I hope I can find a NK full size one day for $3,000!

Me too. That’s why I had to snag it. Used but LNIB for 30% off on a rare gun is too much for me to resist. I’ve decided I only want accurate guns; that’s why I am trying so hard to improve my Glocks’ triggers so I can shoot them better as I am sure they’re more accurate than I can demonstrate. With my Nighthawk .45, my CZs, and my Colt snake guns, I am a good shot. With everything else, I am fair-to-middlin’. I am pretty sure the new Nighthawk 10mm will deliver on the accuracy front. That flat-faced trigger breaks at 2 3/4 lbs and it’s crisp as Boston lettuce. And I love the ballistics of 10mm. I do a lot of shooting at 8” plates and a 12” silhouette plate at 50 yards and I love how fast the 180 grain 10mm slugs get out there, and how hard they hit. BANG-PING!

when was the last time you shot your Glock? I have not in a few years, Shot it last week with my new grip technique and trigger control. They were going in the same hole at 7 yards
