Excellent buy and choice. A well set up 1911 by a master gunsmith custom 10mm is not hard on the gun. The 1911 format is amazingly strong. It is just hard to set up perfectly with top grade steel by a non master of the format
only one way to find out..The slide/barrel/frame fit is absolutely perfect on this gun so the likelihood of undue battering or damage is extremely low.
25 yards?Put 100 rounds of PMC 200 grain FMJ through it today. The sights need a kick to the right but it’s accurate. I think I’ll do better when I get more range time with it. 9 shots.

you shoot matches? if not you should
Heines are so easy to adjust! Set Screw & a tapI loosened the set screws on the Heinies and kicked the rear sight over a skosh; hopefully that’s enough. I’ll try again for groups in the morning.
Steel Challenge! you just stand there.Nope. Funny thing is that I am a very social person - I love firing up the smoker and having 30 people over for smoked brisket and homemade beer. I work (a lot less now) in human services so relationships are very important. But aside from a few friends and my wife and kids, I don’t like being around people at the range. I get up early so I can hit the range at 8 AM when it opens, and beat everyone else there. When I have an audience, I don’t shoot as well. I am also not good with running around and shooting (I have advanced spinal arthritis, sclerosis of the shoulders and bone spurs in my neck). I’m good when alone, standing, with a good gun and good ammo.
bring us back some nice targets!Off to the range in an hour. Bringing handloads this time - 180 grain XTPs over enough powder to get them to 1150 fps as I recall. Not a big boomer but decently authoritative.
just grip that Glock with dear life till the front sight doesn’t move! Old timer here told be, if your focus on the target, your NOT focused on the front sight’s. The improved my shooting by 100%!Ha! I woke up this morning with what I think is a burgeoning abscess in one of my back molars. I’ll try to hit it with the butt of the Nighthawk until the tooth falls out.
I am also bringing my Gen 5 Glock 20 as I am trying to shoot it better, along with my Sig P365 (one of my carry guns that I haven’t shot in a while, embarrassingly).
and bench rested too. We get it. It goes in the same hole. That why I like Standing at 10-15 yards groupings
Wish I was shooting at 25! when everything was A+ … was broke as a Joke then, and didn’t have interest in shooting good. Plan old shotgun patterns at 10 yards was good enough thenSo you are more interested in the shooter's abilities than the gun's? I have some that give tiny groups rested but when I stand up and shoot them they ain't so great. That's pretty much standard for me with any gun now. I wish what was done with my eyesight could be applied to the rest of me.
You rewarded a Bad day at the Range with a Good day at the SHOP!Well guys it was super cold at the range today and I sucked. I kept hitting the slide stop with my gloved hands and stopping the Nighthawk in its tracks. That was very distracting but I did manage to get the sights moved over and on the money for 25 yards. Then I had my first squib ever with a handload and that ended things with the Nighthawk. My work with the Glock 20 was much worse; still hate that trigger with a passion.
To soothe my inner savage beast I stopped by my local GS, only to find a new CZ Tactical Sport Orange had arrived. Naturally and unhesitatingly, I bought it. I just shoot those things so damn well, I don’t know why. Had to have it.

25 yards… I can’t even see that farGetting better with the Nighthawk… 180 grain Magtech JHPs. There were chronoing 1200fps. 25 yards, offhand. Pay no attention to the flyers at 2 and 9 o’clock; I was distracted by the damn fool with a .500 S&W. And I thought I had a big gun, lol.
