I have a Loaded M1A and it's great with irons but I want to scope it to shoot it out to 300yds while hunting white tail and kind of doubling as a medium range paper puncher at 500yds. I'm considering the Nikon M308 and a Sadlak mount.

Are there any other combos I should consider in the same price range? I'm doing walnut with cheek pad strap-on and possibly down the line using a JAE stock.

I suggest the A.R.M.S. mount. I don't know anything about that scope. I went with the Trijicon 1-4X Accu-Point.

That should make for a great combination for your M1A loaded.

The Scope itself has plenty of eye relief for mounting on the M1A, and the reticles will match up well with 168gr match ammunition fired from a 22in bbl. (BDC 800)

Sadlak makes a well built mount for the M1A from my experiences with them, but your end product will most likely require something to raise the comb hiegth for proper cheekweld. The same might apply to the Bassett mount....which is another quality mount for this type of rifle. (I have 2 of them, and they are nice for swapping out between 2 different optics.

The ARMS 18 mount is the lowest profile mount I have found, and is also a solid mount for the M1A.

Be advised that the ARMS mount was intended to be used with the M14 service rifle. It is possible that your specific rifle's receiver dimensions may be different.

Sadlak used to sell a measuring kit for 5 bucks that anyone can utilize to see what thier own rifle's dimensions are. Sadlak will take themeasurments you find, and build a mount specifically for your rifle's receiver....if it needs it.

Also...... SAI will (at least they used to) mount an ARMS mount to one of thier rifles, but I would call them and inquire about this first.

Note: Smith Enterprise Inc. also makes a well built mount.

Hope this helps some.
